Honeymoon Decision

Terrica , on May 8, 2019 at 12:32 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9
Due to an emergency with my fiancé’s health we are reconsidering our honeymoon destination. He recently had abdominal surgery and is not comfortable flying anywhere far at the moment. What are some great, I guess drivable honeymoon destinations??!

Where do you live? And driving may be just as uncomfortable as flying. It may be wise to postpone the honeymoon until he heals completely because the abdominal muscles are used with almost every movement. I've had umbilical hernia surgery and was down for a couple weeks, scared to move those muscles. I subconsciously learned to use other muscles to compensate but it was a hard adjustment to work through and it can take at least a few days for anesthesia to wear off completely. He'll tire quickly and need to rest a lot while his body repairs itself.

This! It took me 3 - 6 months to not feel like a zombie after I had a minimally invasive hysterectomy.

Could you just stay in a nearby hotel for a few days and find a few local things to do or places to eat during the day? Then have the “real” honeymoon once he’s feeling better!

I would rent a cabin or something like that within in my state and just do a travel honeymoon next year. . Gives you something amazing to look forward to next year

We thought about postponing as well, we live in Virginia but our wedding isn’t until August! We still were looking at drivable destinations though, due to his circumstances.

Look up on trip advisor to see the best hotels/packages. Since you live in VA then I'd suggest to drive to NC if you'd like to stay at a beach resort. Or even SC, which has beautiful & nice places to stay at for the honeymoon.

Hey Terrica, how is your FH doing? Is he healing well? Is he still up for a honeymoon in August?

The Blue Ridge Mountains, Charleston, Savannah, or Nashville could make great honeymoon destinations if that won't be too far to drive.
