Honeymoon Destinations

Hi!

I'm getting married in mid October 2021 and planning to have our honeymoon in late October- early November 2021. My fiance and I are thinking either Italy or Greece or both, but we're not sure how the weather is during that time of month and how many days we should plan to stay over there.

Has anyone here ever travel to Italy or Greece during October or November?

How many days do you recommend to explore/enjoy Italy or Greece or both?

Never been to Greece, but Oct - Nov in Italy is cold. Where in Italy would you go? My mom is Italian born in Matera. I and my small family did a road trip through Italy, and the south part a bit warmer. I would say at least 2 weeks just for Italy. Rome, Vatican, Venice, Verona, Pisa, Matera, Positano, Amalfi, gosh... too many very romantic places!

Northern Italy is quite cold in November but as you work your way south it will get warmer. Southern Italy would be in the 50's. You could also try Sicily. October a bit warmer all around. Greece is warmer as it's further south. Crete is the furthest south and the warmest island at that time. Depending on what you want to do will determine where and how much time you need. If you want to sunbath, then it will be too cold. If you are going for food and culture then it is a great time to go to either or both. There are food festivals and fewer tourists so you will get a feel for local life more so than high season. A week minimum in both countries. If you have more time 10 days. The trains in Italy are efficient and affordable so you can city hop very easily (do not miss Florence, stunning). In Greece, if you love ancient history then you will love it here. Athens is a great city and from here you can travel to the islands. 40 minute flight and you are in Santorini.

Hi Meliza! I think it totally depends on how many destinations you'll have within in each country, and how much you want to pack into each day!! Personally I'd want at least 4 full (non-travel) days of exploring!

WeddingWire has great honeymoon guides that give you a helpful planning overview that you should definitely check out for each country:

I've never been to Greece, but for Italy, I'd say for variety, warmer weather, and chaotic smaller cities (I'm thinking Palermo and Catania), I'd definitely stick to Sicily. Sicily can easily take 2 weeks, depending upon your interests. There's food, museums, Roman ruins, food, beautiful scenery, did I mention food? The north is likely to be colder and wet. But, OTOH, if you love art, then skip Sicily and stay in Rome and Florence. The colder weather means crowds are slightly smaller than in the summer. It will be easier to buy tickets on line, too. Wherever you go, don't try to do too much; slow down and enjoy a few places rather than trying to cover a whole country, or two.

As it’s October now, you could easily do a quick search on your favorite weather app to see what’s currently happening weather-wise in both locations.
