Honeymoon during Covid times?

Kristin, on August 24, 2021 at 5:50 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 16

So we have had a honeymoon planned for about 2 years that has been altered about 20 times due to covid. We would like to have a plan B (or more like F) just in case. What are locations that people have found to be easy to travel to recently? We have three weeks available so we are pretty flexible. Thanks for any advice!

Depends in what time of year you plan on going on your honeymoon. Florida and Alaska are easy to travel to and are excellent honeymoon options! Smiley smile

I know people who have recently been to Italy and Paris. Mexico is open and the Dominican Republic.

Bahamas is open for those vaccinated. Health questionnaire to complete 48 hours or more prior to departure and negative covid test to return to the US. We stayed at Sandals Emerald Bay and they have a clinic onsite for testing. It was easier than I expected and well worth it! 🏝

We haven’t been yet, but I’m hearing that Florida is easy to travel to right now.

We honeymooned in South Dakota! We're both from the East Coast, so this was a totally new experience for us and it was a great time. We saw so much cool stuff.

My BIL and his wife went to the Dominican, but that was a little stressful with testing requirements and whatnot. They also went to Mexico last month.

Do you mind sharing what are the places to see in South Dakota? Trying to plan a minimoon and would like to go somewhere we both haven't been to just for a few days before we go to our real honeymoon to Maui next year. Appreciate your input. Thank you!

Sure!! We went to the southwestern part of SD - the area is known as the Black Hills and Badlands. We flew into Rapid City and spent Tuesday-Sunday all around that area.

We went to Badlands National Park, saw Mt. Rushmore (twice - it was so good I wanted to go back), did a driving tour through Custer State Park where we saw buffalo and burros up close, went to a casino in Deadwood, did a 7-mile hike to the high point of the state, drove Needles Highway, and ended up at a couple of random local places (NSFW bingo at a community bingo hall, playing pool at a bar in a town with 112 people, etc.). The last few days we stayed at a really remote cabin overlooking a cavern and we actually got snowed in one day (it was in April!).

If we had more time, I would have gone to Devil's Tower or over the border into Montana. My DH wanted to go to Wind Cave National Park but it was closed because of corona. It seems like a really random place to honeymoon, but if you're into adventuring it's really cool.

We just cancelled our honeymoon to Hawaii and booked a mini-moon to Virginia wine country. Haven't been yet so I can't say how it is but the flights were cheap, there's tons of wineries and breweries and other outdoor activities and it will be fall when we go.

I live in Florida and there are basically no restrictions here whatsoever. So Florida is definitely an option like others mentioned, but it depends on how comfortable you are with being in a packed restaurant/bar/hotel in the state with one of the highest COVID rates right now.

I know people who have recently traveled to the US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and the Florida Keys with no issues.

We will be going to Punta Cana- open to vaccinated and requires a negative covid test within 72 hours to get back into the US which our resort will do on site.

We decided to go somewhere within driving distance so we don’t have to deal with planes or airports.
