Honeymoon During Spring Break

B.C. Hollis, on May 13, 2015 at 11:27 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

Hello! This is my very first post on Wedding Wire. Smiley smile

My FI and both work in Education and are getting married the Saturday before Spring Break. I work in higher ed, so am able to take vacation whenever I want, but he works for an ISD, and can't take more than 2 days at a time. Bummer. We both have the same Spring Break next year so we decided to get married and have our HM immediately after.

Here's my problem:

Being that we work in education and are paying for the wedding ourselves, we can't afford a super expensive HM. But, I don't want to compromise our romance (or sanity) and end up surrounded by a zillion spring breakers partying til all hours of the night.

Any ideas for great, tropical honeymoon destinations during Spring Break that won't break our <$3000 budget?

I know a lot of resorts in Cancun have a "spring break" side of the resort and a "normal" side. You could look into that, and Cancun is cheap!

CheapCarribean.com seems highly rated and includes flights; I haven't used them so I don't know. Try looking for all inclusive tropical resorts? Biggest issue you'll run into is crowds.

KM is right, most hotel/resorts try to segregate the Spring Breakers to one building and leave the other open for "regular" guests. Another option is to try to find an Adults Only hotel within that price range

I think you should be able to get a Caribbean cruise for around that price

I say cruises! I love cruises! I've only been on one... But I'm really pumped for the next time I can cruise (and we've never been on one together as a couple) it has all the romance and not the spring breakers (well maybe a few, but not a ton) I suggest princess since that's the one I went on and it was fabulous. I'd suggest doing a timed seating (there's two ways to eat and having a specific time and seat seemed so much nicer than the free for all that was downstairs). Definitely doable with that budget and you don't have to worry about making sure you have your money for food since it's all included (and they have entertainment, soooooo fun!

I second CheapCaribbean.com. We have gotten some great vacations there. Also, if you go a little further into the Riviera Maya away from Cancun you get a whole lot less spring breakers!

Agreed with @Rachael. I went on spring break this year with a big group of fellow law students and we stayed in a house we rented in Playa del Carmen. We were the ONLY spring breakers in our area- it was quiet, family friendly, and a lovely trip. I would definitely recommend PDC over Cancun, especially during the spring break time of year.

I love cruises too. And they are super affordable I do not advice you take a cruise though. We always did cruises for spring break. You will most certainly be surrounded by college spring breakers (and even worse grade school kids on spring break- like their is a noticeable different in the amount of children on the boat whenever school is out).

A cruise is the worst idea during spring break because you're stuck on a boat with everyone. There's no escape!
