My fiance and I are paying for the cruise but we registered on honeymoonwishes.com for the perks associated with a cruise (ie specialty resturantes, shore excursions, spa, alcohol). It is easy!

You can sign up for any honeymoon fund and use the money however you want. I don't think there is a site specifically for cruises. We used travelersjoy.com. You don't pay any fees to set up the fund, but they do take a cut of the money you receive

    (I think it was 7%)

With Carnival, you can "register" for excursions or guests can purchase like $20 towards your bill or something like that. We were going to try it, but didn't think we'd have many participants, for one, & most importantly, what if we found out about something better we wanted to at the port, but were already obligated to go on this other excursion because someone bought it for us ..or something.

With honeymoonwish.com the money goes to your onboard spending account and not to a specific thing on the cruise so you can really choose to spend it anyway you want.

Yea I dont think there is a specific registry for cruises. I used Honeyfund.com. It's been great. There is no fee to do it, the only charges are if you want to upgrade to a fancier layout (we didnt think it was worth their charge which I want to say was something outrageous like $29 or $39- just for the pretty background or photo slideshow). And then if you choose to get payments through their site you pay the surcharge that paypal charges and it comes out of your total amount given, so the guests dont see anything about a fee. We chose to just let the guests "buy" the item and print it out and attach a check to it and hand it to us. I think its lame for any fee. But then you can put things on there like fancy meal at their restaurant, excursions, drinks, spa date, etc.

We're already booked on a Carnival cruise, but am using their registry for onboard/offshore excursions. We hope folks will use that to help us fund those additional expenses.

@Williams, most of the honeymoon registry sites have examples you can look at. Many also have a sort of tutorial to help you get started. I looked at a few of them and so wish I could set one up now... Alas, we both have schedule restrictions and have to wait until at least the following summer for our honeymoon :/ at which point it's probably too late for a registry...

Did you book your honeymoon through a travel agent? The way I handle these requests for my clients is that I create registry cards for them, or they can put the agency information on their own website. The clients contact me directly to make the payments for the couples registered, and I send them a nice printed card that they can present to the bride. No fees involved at all.

People can also purchase gift certificates with the cruise line and they can be contributed to your reservation. This is another option.

FH's cousin is using honeyfund.com. It's free, doesn't charge, and if you change your mind you'd be able to use it for a different cruise or whatever.

Most of the online sites charge your guests an extra fee. They claim "free" but it's not free for your guests. They usually charge between 5-10% extra to make money.

    Hello,

You really don't need to use a formal website for a honeymoon registry. Any travel agent can create a special file with contributions from friends and family to apply towards your cruise or honeymoon. I do honeymoon registries and/or work out a payment plan for my honeymoon and destination wedding couples regularly. Many of the websites charge a service fee or a credit card processing fee; it is the method that they use to make money. Not all, but many websites. Also, often, your friends and family don't buy an actual shore excursion, or romantic dinner, they can designate the special item, but you only get a voucher for the amount of money, not the actual event or spa treatment or shore excursion.

    Have a great day!
