Honeymoon fund jar or no?

Tabatha, on June 2, 2017 at 6:36 PM

Is it tacky to have at your wedding? If you did have one, where did you put it? My mother wants us to do a money dance but I do not want to do that.. I'd rather have a jar or something but if it's tacky then we will skip it Thanks in advance!

Oh no don't do this. Guests will have already bought you a gift or given you some cash. I would be so embarrassed to have something like this at my wedding!

No don't do this. Most people will bring cards with $. Please don't label a jar... that's tacky

Good grief. You are right to go with your gut. So insanely awkward. I can't imagine seeing one at a wedding. It's like "yea we know you spent money getting here and buying us a gift, but that isn't enough". A honeymoon is a honeymoon, not a charity case! Tell your darling mother absolutely not!

Brittany, you selected one definition -- there are others, and let's be real, we all know that beggars have two tangible items at the ready, if they plan to be successful in their financial endeavors: a sign and a container for solicited, unearned dollars.

Here's another one -- bona fide, of course -- "to accost (approach and address someone/ call to · shout to · hail · address · speak to), or to obtain by accosting or begging from someone". Too close for comfort. If you want a honeymoon and can't pay for it, count up your wedding cash and make your reservations, but please, don't endorse asking for more than your guests have already given you. You probably won't get the cash, just the eyerolls, "OMG's", and judgment. Keep it classy. Your honeymoon is the final stage of your wedding planning. How anyone could approach it with a tin cup or a mason jar -- as if there were a difference -- is mind boggling.

Extremely tacky. Do not do it. This is a wedding, not a church service where the collection plate is passed.

If you cannot afford your honeymoon you do not take one.

Because this isn't Barney and Friends. It's the real world. It's the Internet. This isn't a support group.

If you post asking for opinions, you're going to get them.

Wow, that really is panhandling, Britany. No doubt about it. Just make a small registry and people will give you money as a gift without you having to ask for it.

    @Tabatha:

Let me help you. You seem to have trouble with what rude is versus blunt.

Rude: Telling a bride she looks like a cow in her dress.

Blunt: Telling someone their idea sucks and why.

Sounds like you need to grow a thicker skin. The internet tends to be a very blunt place.

Oh, and everyone in the world can't all be friends because there are some (like myself) who don't / won't associate with people who are rude, crass, or otherwise entitled individuals.

Oh yeah, OP, I forgot to tell you, not only is it a vio to call people names, it's a vio to announce you're leaving.

Sorry your butt hurts. They make a cream for that.

How do you have 4 stars and not know how WW community will respond to this?

I mean this is seriously on at least several posts daily.
