Honeymoon fund jar?

FutureMrs.R, on October 2, 2016 at 8:51 PM

Do you think it's a good idea to have a honeymoon jar @ our wedding for guests to contribute or is that a silly idea? Never heard of it 'till Pinterest came along & never seen a wedding do that either!

General rule of thumb: honey funds, jars, dollar dances etc are see in poor taste. No amount of cutesy, kitschy poem churches them up. That being said, it's rude to ask your guests for money. Most people know to give cash in this day and age; but don't need to be reminded of such.

No. No good. If you want them to help fund your honeymoon, you take the cash gifts from the cards they give you and apply it to your honeymoon. As I guest I would be wondering if I was there for my wallet.

FSS. No. Those honeymoon jars on Pinterest? They're meant for you to put in your house.

I definitely wouldn't put anything in a honeyfund jar at a wedding. I always bring a card with my gift in it so why would I need to put something in a jar? most people will bring a card with money to your wedding, but those who don't won't see the honeyfund jar and think "Well i didnt bring a gift but now that this jar is decorate so pretty and has a poem I'll definitely give them a gift!"

We just went to a wedding on Saturday of a good friend and there was so much tacky stuff that everyone is still talking about it. Makes you think of the person so differently and not going to lie I can't look at her the same anymore

    Yes, IMO it is "silly".

Dollar dances, unless for actual cultural reasons, make me so unconfortable. Nope.

    Here's why it's bad.

Your guests are ALREADY coming to your wedding with a gift. To ask for more is greedy.

Gross. As I said on another thread about this, it's the equivalent of sticking your hand out and saying "place wallet here". Again, as I said on another thread, many people struggle to take vacations, don't ask them for money to pay for yours. It's rude, it's tacky, and you need to be responsible for yourself financially. Don't ask others to fund your luxuries.

You should totally make a honeymoon jar!!! FH and I keep ours next to his nightstand, so any change from his pockets at the end of the night goes in to it..... will it leave our bedroom and be brought to our venue???? NO!
