Honeymoon fund jar?

FutureMrs.R, on October 2, 2016 at 8:51 PM

Do you think it's a good idea to have a honeymoon jar @ our wedding for guests to contribute or is that a silly idea? Never heard of it 'till Pinterest came along & never seen a wedding do that either!

To second @Elphaba. I can't even afford to pay for my FH and I to have sex in a new location so I'm definitely not helping someone else pay for it.

I went to a wedding last weekend where they had one, someone from the wedding party announced (TWICE) that the jar was there and asked the guests "if they have any spare change to put it in the jar". at the reception it sat right in front of bride and groom. I don't think I saw many people actually put money in the jar. I never got close enough to see if there was any money in it.

    ETA: spelling

GeeQT, we get it! We know what she meant. They are saying the only way it's acceptable is if it's in your own home using your own spare change and money.

    Did someone say honeyfund?

There once was a bride with no money

but she wanted to go somewhere sunny!

    So just like an ass

    She asked for some cash

And everyone thought that* was cunty.

I hate when people talk about a honeymoon as if it's a reason to have sex. So weird!! Most of my friends had their honeymoon gifted to them by FH parents. I don't think they were thinking "I can't wait to buy my son a vacation so he can get laid". Yes married people have sex. We get it. I'm sorry but I think a honeyfund is better than a jar and announcements. I personally will always chose a honeyfund over a blender. I'd rather spend $107 to give them $100 than buy a kitchen gadget and pay for shipping.

I don't know, I'm starting to think my mom wants our honeymoon to be ALL about sex.. ugh that seems even more screwed up typed out... she constantly says "well i have my fingers crossed for a December baby" ahhhughhhh It's not all about sex, but a honeymoon is mainly to spend that romantic alone time together...

I have a honeymoon fund jar! On my dresser, in my room... I wouldn't ask my guests to contribute, its personal.

No, no, NOOOOO! Do not do this. A tip jar is tacky and that is what this is.

If you cannot afford a honeymoon, so not take one. As a guest, I certainly would not plan to help fund it.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Your wedding is NOT a fundraiser. Your guests will bring you a gift that they think is appropriate and is within their budget.
