Honeymoon fund jar?

Do you think it's a good idea to have a honeymoon jar @ our wedding for guests to contribute or is that a silly idea? Never heard of it 'till Pinterest came along & never seen a wedding do that either!

Honey funds are deceptive and a lie to your guests about what they're gifting you. Getting money from people under false pretences is never OK In my book.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Pay for your own honeymoon! That's a terrible thing to ask your guests for money.

I avoided this thread. I did. I can't continue to do so. Honeymoon jars are rude. Period. You're asking for money and LITERALLY panhandling at your own wedding. Do people not see what is wrong with throwing a super expensive party and then literally begging for money at it? Good God.

Honeyfunds are also just as gross. They're asking for money, and lying about what you're registering for. You register for "experiences" and Honeyfund gives you cash. Even if you spend it on said experience (and seriously, who goes to an all inclusive and spends $50 on drinks?) you still lied to your guest about what they were giving you (they gave you cash, not the drinks. You bought the drinks yourself,) plus you or they got charged a hefty service fee. Most banks won't even charge half of what Honeyfund charges to cash a check if you're not an account holder. That's saying something.

EW is typically the queen of poor advice around here OP, so please don't listen to her.

As for a honeymoon being a sex vacation, it absolutely is. Everyone knows what you're going to be doing, because that's literally the point of a honeymoon. Saying it's not is ridiculous.

I'm ancient. I have no problem putting a hundred or two in a card. I would never pay for your vacation, sex or not, and if I saw a jar on the bar?

I'd take my card back. And wonder how I had such tacky, rude, money grubbing friends.
