Honeymoon giveaway scam :(

Mallory, on June 13, 2016 at 6:46 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4

I attended the Arizona bridal expo yesterday and was called a few hours later by Nutrichef saying I won their 3 night honeymoon giveaway. I did not remember entering this contest, but it was chaotic at the expo and I figured I forgot entering. I became VERY excited! We are paying for a majority of our wedding and thought maybe this was an exciting way to save! My fiancé was skeptical right off the back ... (and I guess it shows we are a good pair because I am gullible and see the good in everything.) They wanted us to attend an hour long expo on their kitchen supplies today before we could claim the prize. We read multiple reviews online saying it was not a good deal and they pressure you to buying things you don't need or want. I also read that they contact everyone, which would be why I could not remember entering this contest. SO, all in all it does not appear I won anything- but I wanted to give a heads up to maybe someone else who got the same call from Nutrichef.

This is a really common thing at bridal expos.

Ugh I fell for something similar a couple years ago. We were supposed to sit through a 3 hour time share presentation and not have to drop a dime, then we'd get three vacations. We were harassed and berated the final 30 minutes there, finally FH grabbed my arm, flicked the people off, and we ran out of there. It was hellish.

One of them harassed my FH everyday for a month begging him to come to this expo. At one point, FH said no I am telling you again that I'm not interested. They slammed the phone. It was hilarious.

    Okay devil's advocate here.....

I fell for the same thing. Not Nurtichef but like a timeshare thing. We went, super high pressure sales, we had to tell what seemed like 8,000 people no, but you know what, we actually got our free vacations. And I sent in the vouchers and got the codes. One was to Hawaii, which would be dumb to go for 3 days so we skipped, but the other was to Palm Springs (an hour drive) and we totally went. For free. Soooo if you are willing to waste an hour or two of your life for a free vacation, it's real.
