We're going to Punta Cana for our honeymoon and I have no idea what I want to do with my hair. Below is what it normally looks like. I don't get relaxers, but I do straighten it on a weekly basis. I don't know how to wear it naturally, I can never get a good consistent look. I kinda don't want to do...

We're going to Punta Cana for our honeymoon and I have no idea what I want to do with my hair. Below is what it normally looks like. I don't get relaxers, but I do straighten it on a weekly basis. I don't know how to wear it naturally, I can never get a good consistent look. I kinda don't want to do my hair every day on the honeymoon but I don't know what else to do. For the wedding I wasn't going to get any extensions and I don't want to sit in a salon for hours the day before the honeymoon getting my hair braided.

Should I get a sew-in and have that for the wedding/honeymoon? Would a sewed on wig work? I'm just not sure what would be my best option that's not box braids. Help me please. What are you doing or what did you do?

You can also get the crochet style.

My advice, do not get a sew in going to Punta Cana! The weave may lock up if you plan on getting in the water. I would suggest getting cute cornrows or a braided updo!

A crochet style is probably the best option because it's faster and for the most part should be able to get wet without looking a mess. A couple of ladies posted some feed ins and those are quick and cute too. A sew in may require more maintenance than you're willing to do.

I plan to do box braids myself so I don't have to retwist my hair every night on vacation

I think getting cornrows to the back, the braids would get old looking really quick from swimming and what not. But if you get box braids you can go swimming, wash them/ dry them and put them in a bun.

I have the same problem, but we [my stylist and I] did a keratin treatment on my hair so straightening it takes half the time, but when it's natural my curls are more defined and don't frizz up. I will say it set me back 300 dollars, but we are also straightening it for the wedding so I can do loose curls that don't frizz. I am doing extensions for the wedding, but they are clip-ins. My stylist and I are going to play with some natural looks the week before my wedding and honeymoon so I look fresh everyday.

Which clip-ins are you getting? That's my plan as well.

I'm natural and get it blown out as well. I'm just going wild and wonderful. I can pull it back into a little bun when it's wet and my hair is a little passed my shoulders. I did twists for a trip to Cancun with my fiancé in 2009 and it wasn't worth it. Wild and wonderful it is!

My stylist is making them for me. I just bought some regular yaki hair, she is going to put the clips in.

Many of my bridal friends have done braids and twists for tropical honeymoons. So yeah most of the ladies on the thread suggest the same.

    Best,

Following as I am also natural without a relaxer that flat irons my hair.

This is kind of where I'm leaning as i know how to handle my own hair but not so much braids or sewins.
