We are getting married on Oct 3rd this year. We decided on a short engagement and are so excited to tie the knot sooner. However, even though we are having a very small wedding it still costs money. What is a good number for a tropical honeymoon?

And where should we go or think about?

I hear St Lucia is beautiful but those resorts can get very pricey. I would want to spend no more than 4,000-5,000 but is that doable for something like that?

Looking to go for at least 4/5 days.

    Date twin!

I think your budget is definitely doable.

Is it bad that the honeymoon was one of the first things I researched and booked? Oops.

Antigua for 7 nights at an all inclusive.

I've seen all-inclusive jamaican honeymoons on groupon for like $600 bucks. I'd check groupon etc, you can search for ones that include airfare.

Annakay.... just in reference to this: "A lot of people are adamantly opposed to Mexico for some reason" - my Mexican friends and coworkers no longer go home to Mexico for fear of their lives. So there is a reason Smiley smile

Ashley - you could do what we're doing. Going to Hawaii to hunt Axis and black goat!!!

Punta Cana and Riviera Maya are two of my favorite vacation destinations. Both have all inclusive resorts for really reasonable prices. I think the last time we went it was about $3000 for FH and I, all inclusive, for a week.

Have you looked into cruising? When we looked at a 7 day cruise through the Bahamas or Carribean it was about $2600 for both of us for a balcony room, bar package and food. This also included excursions that we wanted to do. We were looking at cruises in January. I know October is a bit pricier but I think it would still be completely manageable with that budget.

Riveria Maya, Mexico is fantastic. We stayed at the all inclusive Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen and LOVED it. It's adults only. I highly recommend.

I am glad someone mentioned Groupon! That's the route my FH and I will most likely take. We have a very tight budget though and yours seems like you can make a lot work! Good luck!

Yes, that is possible. We are going to Jamaica for 7 days in October...nonstop flights...butler suite...all inclusive for under $3500. Talk to a travel agent for sure. Smiley smile

Hello Ashley from Kelly, owner of Travel by Kelly. A big Congrats on your engagement. Planning your honeymoon can be super exciting but a bit overwhelming at the same time, trying to make choices, I know. There are some super adults only resorts in Punta Cana and many other island destinations and it can be tough to choose. I have sent many clients on fabulous trips and I myself have personally traveled to many islands to check out the hot honeymoon resorts. I just returned from Punta Cana last week and have some great pics up on my Facebook your welcome to check out. Some of my faves are the Excellence Punta Cana, Secrets Royal Beach, Iberostar Grand (adults only), and the Majestic Elegance in the adults section is also one of my favorite recommendations and many of my clients return there year after year and love it. Also in The Riviera Maya in Mexico, there is the Secrets resorts and one of my faves the Valentin Imperial Maya. I am a Sandals platinum agent which means I have to all the Sandals resorts and know them inside and out. It is always my pleasure to help in anyway, answer questions, make suggestions, and I am more than willing to share all my info and expertise. I'm always pleased to extend a Travel by Kelly wedding wire customer gift certificate paired with the best possible prices as well. Feel free to reach out to me anytime, you can check out my store front and reviews here on wedding wire.

Have fun with all your wedding planning and remember to have fun!

    Love more....Dream more....Travel more....Kelly

St. Lucia is very rainy at that time of year. We went this past fall and it was not fun being stuck inside, but we still had a blast. Antigua is gorgeous at that time of year and surprsingly reasonable if you look at the smaller less mainstream resorts. We're thinking of returning there for our honeymoon!

I've been to a few islands in the Caribbean, and St. Lucia was the most expensive flight-wise. It's absolutely stunning with a ton to do, but if you're looking for a less expensive trip, I'd look at Aruba (I've stayed at the Divi- all inclusive). Jamaica was also pretty affordable for an all inclusive resort, but we didn't leave the resort. Good luck!

Much like everyone else has said that budget is more than doable!! After talking to some ladies on here, and realizing we didn't really know where we wanted to go or how to go about figuring out where we could go with our budget we decided to find a local travel agent. It has been super helpful! We just had to tell them everything we were looking for, time of year, number of nights and budget and we got a whole list of possible resorts!! it was a life saver!!

We went to Costa Rica last year (we did more adventure travel) but if your looking for really nice hotels (luxury) and really nice beaches you can find some in costa rica too! but the best beaches i have seen are Cuba beaches! the hotels aren't very great but the beaches are to DIE for! they look like they came out of a post card! I recommend cayo coco for the beach and the location is more couple friendly vs highschool kids going on spring break.
