Honeymoon ideas

Jacey, on December 29, 2021 at 10:33 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 8
Hi all! I’m having a hard time thinking about my honeymoon. I’m a flight attendant and my fiancé is pretty adventurous but we don’t know where we want to go. I’m not sure if I want to honeymoon right after the wedding or wait some time. We can go wherever we want with my flight benefits but I just cannot get a grasp of planning it! Any advice is welcomed.

We are choosing to wait a week and go to Hawaii. We are doing 3 weeks there across 3 islands. We ultimately decided on Hawaii because our other choices weren't good options for March or COVID. Definitely consider the COVID precautions you’ll have to follow (testing, show vax card, etc.).

We’re doing our honeymoon in July (almost 2 years after we got married). We’ll be doing 20 days in England, Scotland, and Ireland. I prefer exploring vacations over relaxation vacations, so that’s why we nixed the beach locations.

We left the day after our wedding and I was so glad we did! It made it really feel like a honeymoon and not just a vacation.
I would set a budget and have a fun brainstorming session with your fiancé about your must-haves and vibe you’re looking for, as well as how long you’d like to go. From there you can research places to go.

We left two days after our wedding (wedding was on Friday, we left on Sunday) and I did NOT regret it! It was SO nice to kind of get away and have that time with my new husband, we basically completely unplugged from everyone and everything else and just enjoyed each other. Really special time! We went to Disney and Universal because he likes to have things to do, so I think the location really depends on what you guys are looking for out of a vacation. Would you prefer to relax or do you like adventure? Cooler weather or warmer?

How friendly is Hawaii when it comes to covid regulations? Are you finding any restrictions? I'm getting married in April and have been wanting to plan a honeymoon shortly after.

    Thanks!

It honestly depends on the island. Oahu and Maui are the most restrictive. You have to either show your vaccination card or a negative test within 72 hours to get into any restaurant, indoor building, etc. I’ve heard some luaus require a test within 24 hours.

Kauai and the Big Island are not as restrictive from what I’ve found. But they still have capacity limitations in restaurants.
All require a vaccination card or negative test within 72 hours to fly in to Hawaii. There is talk that this may change with omicron, but so far they haven’t. https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/getting-to-hawaii/

I would say try to go somewhere that normally has expensive flights since you can get it for free! Like French Polynesia, Southeast Asia, Australia, etc. We found a great flight deal to Belize, which has a ton of adventurous, as well as relaxing, things to do!
