Hi everyone! So FH and I have really slacked on planning our honeymoon. We have decided that we want to pick 2 or 3 cities in California to explore, driving down the coast between them. It's been something that we've both wanted to do for years, but never had the chance. However, neither of us has been to California before and don't know where to begin! I definitely want to explore Big Sur and we would love to go to cities that are walkable, and have tons of different restaurants. My FH also would want some places to hike. Everyone we talk to only suggests wineries, but my FH doesn't drink so that wouldn't be too fun for him. Does anyone have any suggestions for cities or places to go?? Or how to plan a trip down the California coast? Thanks!

I'd take the Pacific Coast Highway down the Southern California coast, you could hit up Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Disneyland, Orange County beaches, and San Diego.

All of those destinations are relatively close together, so you could go out and have a fun day and then drive a couple hours south later in the evening when the traffic has cleared up!

You have lots of suggestions on here. Keep in mind that the California coast is very long. It's an 8-10 hour drive from SF to SD. To actually "explore" you'll want to choose Northern California or Southern California. Northern California has cooler weather and has less tourism outside of SF. It's more relaxed and nature is a bit more respected and preserved. So Call is warmer, the beaches are busier and there is a lot more tourism. There are also some very beautiful places but it's a bit harder to find that super romantic spot to be completely alone. There are plenty of fun things to do in So Cal from their great beaches to sitting in a live audience to a TV show.
