Honeymoon in Cartagena?

Alma, on October 14, 2016 at 12:33 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

Hi Everyone! I'm semi-new to this, but somebody suggested Cartagena, Columbia as a honeymoon location. I've done a little bit research and it looks awesome. However, there isn't a ton out there specific to honeymoons. I was wondering if anybody has done it or know somebody who has. Any thoughts or advise would be great. Thanks!

Ok....the best thing that you can do is to learn the country name. It is an insult to us that people can't spell a name correctly so here it goes: COlombia with an O... Columbia with U is a brand, a district, and an university.

    Thank you!

@Aida *A university since we feel the need to correct small details today

Alma I've never been but I would say look into the activities that you and FH are interested in. If it sounds like a good fit go for it. Don't stress yourself out by giving yourself too many options. You can always go on trips later. Don't try to conquer the world in one trip.

That would be an amazing trip. Cartagena is beautiful. I would suggest going through a travel agency. Also I don't think it is necessarily the easiest city to travel in if you don't speak spanish. It is a wonderful place. I love Colombia in general but I would suggest maybe santa marta Colombia if you want a more relaxing and easier travel city in Colombia or even Baranquilla.

Cartagena has a beautiful old Spanish town district. Cabs are super cheap to travel in, but be ready to be asked if you're looking for coke or hookers, never felt threatened, we just would laugh it off and decline

For those of you who responded with advice, thank you for your input. I'll definitely continue to research Cartagena more and consider the tips you have provided so far. It does seem really beautiful and culturally rich. I'll likely look into a travel agent to get some additional perspective. Thank you all for your time!

@Aida - That was a typo which happens when people type from time to time. I know the difference. Having gone to Columbia for grad school that was likely out of habit. As someone who is an immigrant and enjoys other cultures, I'm never out to insult other cultures. Too bad you took that so personally... way to represent your country! Continue to enjoy your time using this forum!

We had a couple travel to Colombia for their honeymoon last year. It's an interesting destination. But it really just depends upon what you're looking for. If you are looking for an adult only, all-inclusive experience, there are a lot of islands beautiful in the Caribbean that offer a lot of history and culture. Colombia isn't a destination that people typically travel to just to hang on the beach. Most of the couples that we've had travel to Colombia have gone because they had a familial tie to it.

    Hope that helps!
