Honeymoon in DisneyWorld extras that enhance experience!

Stephanie, on July 25, 2017 at 10:49 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 32

Hi guys I am going through a travel agent and am pricing out quotes for our honeymoon! What are some "extra" things that are worth spending extra money on to make our honeymoon extra special? We are leaning toward a value resort, and splurging on extras! Any ideas welcome!

Make sure to tell everyone your on your honeymoon. Wear the button every day. You should also try the WD travel company. They can help with the most up to date discounts and deals. DONT stay at the value hotels is not romantic at all hearing kids running down the halls and tripping over strollers at the pool. New Orleans is beautiful and they have river boats that can take you places around the resort. Also ask if they do any special firework viewing or dinning package. The dinning plan is great and you can do dinner and a show with them! No matter what you do you'll have fun and it will be prefect.

I suggest getting a concierge level room. I have done that at Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as the Boardwalk (also where my other MOH stayed for her honeymoon). Stay at a moderate resort and do that. It is worth the splurge and much cheaper than a normal room at the fancy hotels. If you let them know you are on your HM they may arrange for extra special dining experiences and give you fast passes gratis (which they also did with my MOH).

We are going to disney and decided to stay in a royal room at Port orleans. I decided to splurge to have less kids running around. I figured we would do values when we have kids.

We're planning a couple days in Disney after the wedding, an extra I've been looking it is the dessert party. You get dessert and a special view of the fireworks.

@Kate you can do all of that through the Magic Band now. And if you have the Magic Band the concierge can just magically "add" stuff to it while you are there. It really is cool!

EDIT: You are way too far out to do this, but check Mouse Savers for deals as well. Staying at a property that lets you travel by boat vs. bus is always nicer, and schedule your meals! Disney will be adding alcohol to their dining packages as well at the non Magic Kingdom parks, so you may want to consider looking into that.

Also, don't do all quick service meals. Sit down! Most of the time they are about the same price as quick service and you get one heck of a meal. Hollywood studios is full of neat eateries. Make all of your arrangements ahead of time. Walk ups sometimes can't be done or you will eat really late. Eat at off peak times, and do the drinking around Epcot "tour" if you drink. It is tons of fun.

Ahhh I love Disney World! I used to work there.

Definitely book a moderate resort instead of a value if you're trying to save money. There's nothing "bad" about the value resorts, but there's nothing really great or special about them either (unless you or your kids LOVE the theming). Like others have said, Port Orleans is a nice moderate resort and has special "royalty" rooms you can book that are decorated more fancy. If you can swing it, though, I'd suggest splurging for a deluxe hotel -- especially one on the monorail track, which all have different themes but are fantastic.

How long are you staying? You should definitely budget to eat at a full-service restaurant at least once every day. They have soooo many places to choose from it's hard to narrow them down. All of the deluxe resorts have restaurants as do the parks. Let me know if you want any recommendations! If you want to go really fancy, I'd suggest going to Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada pavilion in EPCOT, or Monsieur Paul in the France pavilion (just be prepared to spend some $$$, but so worth it). There are also a lot of fun character dining opportunities. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is really good.

Are you going right after your wedding? If so, the Food & Wine Festival will still be going on at EPCOT. Definitely save some money for that and try to "eat around the world".

They'll also still have Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party going on right after your wedding at Magic Kingdom, which is a blast if you like Halloween. I think their Halloween parade is the best of them all.

If you like excursions or other experiences, I've heard the Wild Africa Trek at DAK is really fun if you like learning about animals. I did the dolphin experience at EPCOT once and that was amazing! You get to learn all about their rescues and rehabilitation and watch the trainers do tricks with them.

I'm just a huge WDW nerd, so let me know if you want any recommendations!

@Rebecca M. - I love meeting fellow Disney fanatics! I live in AZ, so I grew up going to Disneyland every year when I was a kid, then I did the Disney College Program at WDW when I was college. I loved it so much that I did two programs, one professional internship, and moved back to seasonally work there every summer with friends until I finished college and officially moved there for a year. I'm back in AZ now, but go back to visit WDW at least once a year to see friends that are still there.

@FutureMrsW that is awesome! I have lived just miles from the DLR for about 7 years now, and in Orange County for 13. Disney is our thing! I love spreading the DL love to others. I was trying to get FH to go to Disneyland Paris for a day trip for our hm. I am still working on it. Smiley winking

@Kate, yep! As part of the Fastpass service! They are making quite a few changes. Here at DL you will be able to pay $10 a day for Fastpass and do it all through your phone since we can't have the Magic Band set up.

We are looking to do a firework cruise and a carriage ride. Possibly the night time safari.

In CA you have to do it from the app. We have no choice here, but we also have to pay for the service. I kinda wish we had the magic bands. But that being said, I can't wait to test it out!

Check this website out for some fun little "extras"! They do packages that you can have delivered to your room during your stay. The "engagements/proposals" section has some cute, romantic options!

@Kelsey having done this for my MOH I can honestly say it was a waste of money. They used to have a honeymoon package. It cost me over $200 just for 2 chocolate covered strawberries, a split of champagne, and a set of wedding mickey ears for them. Then I found out through the front desk I could have ordered up the mickey ears at cost and the other things for half the price.

I agree with what everyone else. The Port Orleans is a great hotel! You can also stay at one of the monorail hotels or one on the boardwalk but those are more $$ because of convenience. Using the magic bands/ app you can do your fast passes and restaurant reservations i believe 180 days in advance.

My FH and I are booking the Pirates and Pals excursion. Disney has a stack of awesome excursions. Look into them.
