Honeymoon: Jamaica or St. Lucia

My FH and I have been looking at Honeymoon locations. We are getting married in July but don't plan on taking our Honeymoon until late October/ early November. We were looking into a Sandals resort in St. Lucia to begin with but when we went to the travel agents and got prices it would be about $2000 to go to a Sandals resort in Jamaica. The resort we were looking at Sandals Grande St. Lucia and Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica. Has anyone been to those resorts or could tell me if it is well worth the extra money to go to St. Lucia? I am open to suggestions. I just don't want to go to Mexico.

Have any of you considered Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay? You get way more bang for your travel buck.

It really depends on what you will want to do while there. I'm partial to St. Lucia (and not just for obvious reasons!). Jamaica will be more crowded and touristy. However, Jamaica will also have more activities and nightlife available. St. Lucia is gorgeous with amazing beaches and lovely people. If this is your first time to the Caribbean, though, I would say, save the $2000 and have a blast in Jamaica. You'll have a wonderful time either place.

My honeymoon was in St. Lucia at the Sandals Regency La Toc. I liked our hotel, but the Grande beautiful! They had a much nicer beach than the Regency and Halcyon. We didn't eat too much at the other resorts, but ours had the BEST food! I loved it! Plus the service is really good.

I know my post is way late but we are pondering the exact same question. FH and I I believe are finally agreeing to go to Jamaica now we just need help picking a resort.
