Honeymoon or big wedding

So ladies, if you had the choose of a big wedding or long honeymoon, knowing it's not in your budget to really have both what would you decide on? I have chosen a small simple wedding and a long honeymoon. Do you think it's the right choice?

Lol well our budget is small compared to most on here but we are having 165 guests so it's big in that sense. Honestly I don't know if I could ever go on a long honeymoon. Time away with just fh sounds great but he is not very adventures and does not party so it would be filled with a lot of nothing lol.

I would choose a long honeymoon any day. But we are both big travelers and that's very important to us as a couple.

We went with a big honeymoon and a simple wedding but we are also getting help from both set of parents for the wedding so it was easier for us to save money for the honeymoon.

We decided on a big(ger) wedding than we might have because we want to include as many friends and family as we can properly host. We only get to have one wedding, so we want it to be awesome. Also, vacation time is hard, so we're waiting to take a honeymoon later.

I wanted a small wedding and Bora Bora as a HM. DH wanted a bigger wedding. He won on the wedding and we went to Costa Rica on our HM. I still regret having a big wedding but Costa Rica was amazing.

I agree with honeymoon. I am more for experiences over things, so I would definitely take the time together somewhere fun and adventurous!

If I could do it all over we would have eloped and gone on a bad ass honeymoon. I may say something different after the wedding but right now the stress and money isn't worth it to me.

I would say the wedding. Since my own wedding 2 years ago my husband and I have been on 2 other trips that were just as long and fun as our honeymoon. We thought of them as anniversary honeymoons. There will be lots of opportunity for other trips, other honeymoons. But you only get once chance for your wedding.

Thank you ladies for all your messages!

I really enjoyed reading them all.

I am really glad to have chosen the honeymoon.

We both have been married before and have children so honeymoon away is going to be the best !

I'm with S&P on this. We scaled down our honeymoon a lot to have all the people we wanted to celebrate with at our wedding. We get to throw a wedding once in our lives, we will go on vacation several times. That being said, it depends on what you value more. It is completely up to you and FH, not one can tell you if you made the right call other than the two of you.

100% honeymoon. We have to have a big wedding, the sizes of our families alone won't really allow us to have a small wedding. Ideally, I would have a small wedding on the beach, but we agreed a vow renewal years later at the beach will have to do. We both want a long honeymoon though, so we're going to try to make it happen.

We couldn't do a long honeymoon because of FH's job but I wish we could have!

Yes. Honeymoon is time alone for you and FH. I am having a nice wedding but my family is helping a lot, so the money saved is allowing us to have a week honeymoon

    @punkinbeer exactly!

I am going half and half. I'm having a small DW elopement, but splurging on it (vendors, suites, etc). Treat yo'self, riight?? And then next summer we're doing a kind of long honeymoon (2-3 weeks) in Europe.

I think we have a happy medium, as we don't like to travel for extended periods and would rather space it throughout the year. And we didn't want a huge crazy wedding anyway.

We've chosen small inexpensive wedding so we can save for a Hawaii honeymoon Smiley smile It will be a couple years before we can take it, but feel it's worth it! Most of the people we would invite don't really see/communicate much at all anyways.....
