Honeymoon Places?!

Erika, on April 15, 2021 at 1:10 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

We live in Northwestern Pennsylvania and want to take atleast a 4 day honeymoon the day after our September 18th wedding. We are looking at doing it CHEAP (under $2500) because we are just broke in our mid-20s like majority of you! LOL We are open to air bnbs, hotels, cabins, etc. Things we like to do include going to breweries and distilleries, hikes/nature, shopping, etc. We are also willing to fly if the prices are right.

What are some cute little getaway places you know about in the US?!?! Not wanting to leave the country.

Also, I'm open to any traveling tips such as how to get the cheapest flights, etc. I've never really traveled as an adult, just as a teen and my parents handled everything!

Try Groupon they have a lot of all inclusive trips to the Caribbean. The Dominican Republic is usually the cheapest.

What is your budget? Cheap is kind of relative. Maybe Vermont? A good friend of mine went to Vermont on a small anniversary getaway a few years back. There are tons of breweries, as well as hiking depending on the weather. I think there are lots of cute airbnbs in the area, so hopefully you can find one to fit your budget. It may be too far to drive, but you can check out the small no-frills airlines like Frontier and see if you can snag a cheap flight. Expedia and Cheapoair are also good.

What about the Smoky Mountains? A fun cabin off the strip in Gatlinburg or something more secluded in Sevierville or Pigeon Forge? Definitely would fit your budget for a week, and there are lots of breweries/distilleries, lots of hiking, unique shopping and good eats!

Check out Asheville, NC. Great hiking trails, amazing mountain views, brewery capital of NC (they seriously have tons of amazing breweries!), and if you are into wine, there are also a lot of wineries close by. You can find tons of cabins on Airbnb, but there are also a lot of cabin rental companies in and around Asheville. I think you could easily do 4 days in Asheville for under $2,500.

If you do decide to take this option, let me know. I have ton of suggestions for you lol.

If you're considering Vermont, there is an Airbnb, the Kingsley Grist Mill in Clarendon, VT, that is absolutely amazing and very unique! The owners are interesting characters, who will interact with you as much or as little as you want (they are very entertaining, in the best possible way). The property is gorgeous and very unique. We were there in June, but I would imagine that September with the fall foliage it would also be amazing. I know there was a brewery nearby and maybe a winery (it's been a few years...), lots of hiking and unique/quaint local places to visit (e.g., the country's oldest cheese factory, an entry point to the Appalachian Trail, the huge Vermont Country Store complex, etc.). We had a wonderful time there! Smiley heart

It's been a long time, but we also used to love Cape May, NJ, also gorgeous in the fall!

    Good luck!

Gatlinburg is awesome!! I went there as my high school graduation trip, and my sister and BIL went there for their honeymoon. They got a cabin, and one day there were black bear cubs in the yard!

It might not scream “honeymoon”, but Cleveland is a lot of fun AND affordable. My fiancé is from that area, so I’ve gotten to know it even better over the last several years. There are some great bars and restaurants downtown, the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is awesome, and while I haven’t gone yet, I’ve heard that the art museum is quite impressive. If either of you like history, there’s a WWII submarine along the lake, the USS Cod, that only does tours on Saturdays, but you can walk beside it and take pictures of it anytime. There’s also this huge shopping center that houses both a Hard Rock Cafe and a fancy hotel. That’s just the stuff I know off the top of my head, but I know there’s a lot more.
