Honeymoon Planning (wedding in September 2023)

Erin, on May 8, 2022 at 4:55 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

Is anyone planning a honeymoon later on in the year instead of right after their wedding? Traveling after September seems like a busy time with the holidays, as well as time of the year. I feel like going later during the summer months would be better. What's everyone else thinking/doing??

A lot of people don't take their honeymoon immediately, so if you feel like you don't want to deal with travelling before the holidays, it's certainly your prerogative to take your honeymoon later. If you want to take your honeymoon later, then maybe you could take a day or two (or three) for a "minimoon" so you have that lovely just-post-wedding time together (and it is lovely).

Having said that, we went on vacation last year from 9/28-10/7, and I didn't feel like it ran too far into the holidays. If you were getting married in late October, then I could see it as a concern - but since you're well before Halloween, I don't think you'll have a huge issue. That's just my opinion though.

September/October are a great time to travel, since schools are in session and places are not crowded, and the weather is still pretty warm most places. I highly would recommend not going in the summer because crowds are worse. November is also good if you're going internationally since only the US celebrates Thanksgiving. My fiancé and I are going on a honeymoon a week after our wedding in September.

We are getting married this month but taking a honeymoon in August. Partly because we both just had job changes and partly to just have a little break and something else to look forward to.

I will say that regarding September we do often like to vacation September/October because kids just went back to school so things tend to be less crowded. Depending on where you are going this could be a great travel time!

I think September and October can be great months for honeymoon travel! It really depends on where you are hoping to travel to and when the best season for that place will be. Summer can be very hectic and peak travel season for many which may make things more expensive (hotel, experiences, food). If you’re looking for a quieter honeymoon, I would avoid peak travel season for any location you want to go to.

We'll be taking our honeymoon likely a year after our wedding as a one year anniversary celebration/honeymoon combined. We'll be staying in Puerto Rico though for an additional 5 days following our wedding so we'll still have some time together before returning to "real life". We're giving it a year to give me something else to plan but also to give us a chance to save up more money and to be able to travel not during monsoon season (looking at going to Cambodia)

We are getting married in June and taking our Honeymoon in September. We wanted a gap between the wedding and honeymoon to have some extra time to save for the honeymoon. September is also the 'shoulder season' in Hawaii and kids will have just started going back to school, so we are hoping it will be less crowded than if we went at the end of June. We are taking a minimoon right after our wedding just to relax and do nothing together for a few days.

With that being said, September and October are great times to travel weather wise, cost wise (usually) and crowd wise. I do agree traveling in November and December can be a bit hectic with the holidays. Do you live in a cold climate? Maybe look into February or March if you are looking to go somewhere warm. It would be after the holidays and a chance to get away from the cold!

We are going to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a week a week after our wedding. Suit rentals need to be returned that Monday and we need to pack. With the wedding we thought we would just enjoy the wedding and then get excited about the honeymoon

We are getting married in September of this year but not planning to do our honeymoon until 2024. My fiances "vacation" time also counts as sick time and can loose his job if he uses it all and then gets sick and has to miss work so we arent taking a honeymoon this year. In 2023 we are going on vacation with my entire family and this was planned right after we got engaged so 2023 is out. Bonus of having a couple extra years until the honeymoon is that we have extra time to save.

We're getting married in October and taking our honeymoon right after. Fall is a great time to travel since it's off-season. I totally get wanting to take some time to save up, but I think you're far enough away from the holidays that it wouldn't be a concern yet.

Me and my fiance want it a few days after the wedding. Looking into Airbnb has been huge on starting us off on the possibilities. But we've never taken a vacation together. Been together for 16 years. So we want to make the experience count.

My wedding is 10/14/22; we are going to the UK for our honeymoon over Thanksgiving, that we are using the least amount of PTO! To me it's worth missing one family holiday for the trip of a lifetime with my FH. 🥰

Though not our honeymoon, we went to Mexico in November a few years ago. It was great weather and when we came back, there was enough comfortable distance to the holidays that we didn't feel stressed. I think September is a great time to travel!
