Honeymoon Recommendation Help

Hannah, on January 16, 2022 at 7:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8
We are thinking about honeymoon destinations for this summer . I am vaccinated but FH is not. Our dream was Greece and Italy but I am reading there are going to be a lot of restrictions. We are devastated but I don’t want to spend a ton of money to get half the experience over there.

We are now looking into other places. We’ve been to Antigua, St. Lucia, the DR, Cancun, Jamaica, and Bermuda. We are considering Hawaii, Costa Rica, Roatan (FH has been before so it would only be part of the trip) but I’m not 100% sold. Anyone have any other suggestions? We aren’t looking to spend a fortune because we want to save for our Italy/ Greece trip one day 😢

My vote goes to Cancun or Costa Rica. It was beautiful out there.

I would highly recommend Mexico, as their testing restrictions are the least strict. Cabo is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend the Hyatt Ziva there.

Mexico is not testing to get in at all at this point. Make sure to keep in mind though, the U.S. IS testing in order for you to return home. My cousin is stuck in Mexico right now because he tested positive before boarding the plane back to the U.S. So if you plan to leave the country, you will want a contingency plan in place in case you test positive and are stuck there quarantining. Ie, make sure you have extra money to afford multiple days, or possibly weeks, of accommodations while you quarantine abroad; and also know where you will stay. My cousin got lucky and the resort they had been staying at had one room available for him to quarantine in. But it was a really expensive suite that is costing him three times as much to stay in. Had they not had the suite available, he would have been called Colleen resorts all over Mexico trying to find a place that would allow a Covid positive person to stay and quarantine.

Going to the US Virgin Islands is great, as it is still the "US"; however, if you are planning on saving up for your dream trip, why not make it somewhere in the Continental US. My fiance and I want to go someplace tropical, but with COVID, we are hesitant. We have decided to go to Key West, Florida. There is lots to do there, very few restrictions, and reasonable in regards to costs. It will allow us to enjoy the honeymoon, and look forward to our next adventure out of the country when the time is right. Many have told us how wonderful Key West is.

You can find a list here of places you're allowed to enter: https://www.nytimes.com/article/coronavirus-travel-restrictions.html

That being said, there will probably be lots of restrictions in place for unvaccinated visitors in all countries. You mentioned you're interested in Costa Rica. While you might be able to enter the country, your FH wouldn't necessarily be allowed to enter many restaurants, dining establishments, museums, hotels. commercial establishments, etc.

I'd recommend going to Florida, if anywhere at all.
