Honeymoon registry or gift cards?

Courtney, on April 16, 2020 at 2:49 PM Posted in Registry 0 6
So we have created a website through blueprint and have all of our gift registeries imported there. We also put a honeymoon registry on there with a cute poem attached. In no way are we EXPECTING to pay for our honeymoon through the registry, however , my mom doesn't think it's appropriate to have a honeymoon registry.. She's more traditional and doesn't think we should have that up there. She suggested putting bisa gift cards on our registry. My FH would like to keep it. Does my mom have a point? Is it rude to have a honeymoon registry. Should we just do Visa gift cards along with our gift registry instead? I know someone who ONLY put cah registeries on their website such as for spa , bedroom , Airbnb along with a $300+ item, etc and I kinda found that rude as a guest looking at it , but I didn't think having a honeymoon registry was inappropriate when we also have gifts on our site. Not sure which is better , the gift cards or the honeymoon registry.

Did people donate to it? And what website did you use?

I used zola. people did donate to it but i found people were more inclined to buy activities than to donate to the general honeymoon fund. i had split mine up based on activities on the honeymoon like one day boat cruise, theme park tickets, dinner show, etc. and THOSE definitely got bought out. i think people just like the idea of knowing exactly what they're paying for or buying for you.

Oh okay that definitely makes sense! Our wedding is in July , and even though it looks like they are going to reopen things within the next month, we had put a hold on our honeymoon. We know where we'd like to go , and have looked at dates but haven't confirmed or booked anything. I just thought about sending our website out to our guests today to keep them updated , but now I'm wondering if it's best to have the honeymoon fund on the website if we haven't booked anything yet. I had made the fund months back so didn't think about it until now.

I do like the idea of separating it into activities though! That's neat!

Honeymoon Registry is a great idea! We had a Honeymoon Fund set up on our website and was surprised, but several donated to it. It does charge whoever is giving like 1-2% fee. It was really easy to set up and happy we did. We used The Knot Honeymoon Funds. Smiley smile

We tried to make it clear that what we want most is to have a special honeymoon instead of more house items that really...we already have enough of. Most people gave checks/cash that came to our shower though. (We did have 2 registries for people to pick from if they didn't want to do that.)
