Honeymoon right after or wait?

Laura, on January 13, 2017 at 5:47 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 53

Our wedding is May 20th in tahoe (local for us). We are thinking of doing a week long honeymoon but waiting until August. Instead, do just a honeymoon suite for the night of and next night. Has anyone else put off their honeymoon, thoughts?

We haven't even planned a honeymoon yet. We think we'll end up doing a cruise within a year. But I know a couple that waited 5 years before doing their honeymoon. Whatever you can budget/prefer!

We're leaving the following Saturday for a week (cruising). I'm grateful to have the breathing room.

We are waiting for various reasons....but I would rather spend a night or two (and day <>) in a nice local hotel then go somewhere amazing and be torn between wanting to sightsee etc and stay in. If we delay then we can do more sightseeing.

We're probably putting ours off a few months. We're having a week long international DW and although we still want a honeymoon, I would prefer to take a few weeks in between to rest before jumping right into another trip.

We are getting married on a Saturday and leaving for the honeymoon on Monday morning. We wanted to give ourselves a day of rest after the wedding. Do whatever works for you! Sometimes jobs, family, and life don't allow honeymoons right after the wedding.

We're waiting at least 7 months, but probably more like a year for ours. We get married May 2018 and I don't graduate school until December 2018 so schedule wise a honeymoon right after doesn't work for us. Plus it'll give us more time to save and go on our dream honeymoon

We are getting married on the 17th and leaving for HM on the 30th. We have to go to my cousins wedding on the 24th otherwise we would probably be going sooner.

We're leaving the following weekend. We figured it would be nice to catch a breathe in between!

We are going to cancun for 4 nights after the wedding and then planning a trip to Europe for two weeks that would take polace 6 months after the wedding.

We spent two nights in a nice hotel after the wedding, and waiting until our first anniversary for our actual honeymoon. For us that was perfect, I personally would not have wanted to be planning for, paying for, and packing for a long trip while I was prepping for the wedding, but we really needed and appreciated having the mini vacation just the two of us right after the wedding madness to decompress before we headed back into the real world.

ETA: on the night of the wedding we just stayed in the same hotel as the guests, we got to bed so late and were so tired that it would not have been worth it to us to pay for a fancy hotel room on our wedding night, and instead we checked into the nice place the day after the wedding so we could get there early and really enjoy it.

We can't do a honeymoon right after the wedding because my office won't let me take all my yearly PTO in one shot (I don't get that much anyways). So, we are just going to stay an extra 2 or so nights after the wedding as a mini-moon and then take a real honeymoon in 2018 when my PTO renews. I don't see anything wrong with splitting it. Most people I know are in the same situation as me and have delayed their real honeymoon.

We're putting ours off as well. We're getting married in September and will most likely be going to Mexico for our honeymoon so we want to go in December, after hurricane season. Also, we live in Chicago so we both want to go somewhere warm when it's winter here.

My FH and I are taking a few days right after the wedding and going somewhere local. However, our main honeymoon probably won't happen for a while due to work schedules.

We had a car pick us up from the venue and transport us to our hotel to get on our 8 am flight the next day. I don't regret a second of it.

H really wanted to go right away while overcome with euphoria of just being married. It was his first time flying and the euphoria put his nerves at bay.
