Honeymoon right after or wait?

Laura, on January 13, 2017 at 5:47 AM

Our wedding is May 20th in tahoe (local for us). We are thinking of doing a week long honeymoon but waiting until August. Instead, do just a honeymoon suite for the night of and next night. Has anyone else put off their honeymoon, thoughts?

We are getting married on a Friday and don't leave until 11 days later for an 11 night cruise. Man, going back to work for that week in between is going to be brutal! hahaha

We are waiting so we can afford the honeymoon of our dreams. Even if it takes a few years to save up it will be worth it!

We did this and it was great!!!! We had a two night mini moon in a hotel. Then, got settled into life and had something to look forward to. We had a three month gap between our wedding and honeymoon, and it was nice to have that time to book excursions and restaurant reservations and buy clothes for the trip and do some reading about our destination.

If all goes according to our current plans, we'll have about a month in between the wedding and the honeymoon we intend to take. We're planning to run the Kona Marathon in Hawaii for our honeymoon. Race day is June 25. So we'll have a month to kind of unwind between the wedding and our trip, which I think sounds fantastic!

We are homebodies and have fur babies at home. The wedding will be a lot of stress and worry and after the wedding we want a few days to relax at home with the babies before jetting off. We are planning to wait a week before we leave.

We are going to wait on our honeymoon a few months. I don't think we'll actually even plan it until after the wedding and thats for two reasons

    1) I have a feeling that I'll need something to plan after all this wedding planning.. haha

    2) MONEY. We won't have much money to afford our wedding AND a honeymoon all at once.

We are getting married on a Friday so I think we will stay in a hotel the remainder of the weekend and just enjoy ourselves.

The honeymoon period is the moon cycle directly following your wedding date. If you go somewhere or not during this time.

If you leave shortly after the wedding, don't leave the morning after. That's a horrible idea. Maybe wait a day if you insist to leave right after or wait a few months. We are taking our honeymoon in April. Something else to look forward to.

Thank you again. It seams like the "get married, rush off to honeymoon " is not as common place as I thought. Ya we are looking at an Alaska cruse or a week in a privet cabin around Orca island, WA. (Might be OR. it's close to boarder.) Hi to all my date twins!!!!

We are waiting two weeks before going on our honeymoon, but might do a couple days at the beach directly following the wedding.

There are no 'rules' on planning your honeymoon. Many of my couples, for a variety a reasons delay their honeymoons for up to a year. Yes, the delayed gratification may be difficult for some, but if you have work schedules or financial considerations, then wait. Don't force your honeymoon and then regret it later.

We're getting married on a Saturday (also in Tahoe) and we're leaving on our mini-moon on Monday for 3 days. We're going to Paso Robles for wine tasting and relaxation. In summer 2018 we plan on going to Europe for a larger honeymoon.

We are getting married in 21 days and are planning an October honeymoon! You can wait if it's what's best for you guys. Main reason for waiting- Money and PTO. We want to take a 15-day trip and need to save up more cash and accrue more PTO.

Me and my FH are going a week after our wedding to honeymoon in Ireland. It's perfectly fine to wait a little bit to go. You can save up and have an even nicer honeymoon Smiley smile

It would be entirely too stressful for me to save and plan for a wedding and also a major vacation at the same time. plus, we have family coming from around the country and overseas, so we don't get a chance to spend much time with them, so we'd want to spend the days after the wedding with our family.

We're going to wait a couple months because we're getting married in the middle of hurricane season & love the Caribbean, haha. I want to have a little break between the wedding & going back to reality, so I'm going to get us a couple nights at a hotel or B&B to just relax.

We get married on Saturday and our cruise leaves from a local port at 4 the next afternoon. For us with our schedules and FH's football coaching schedule, if we didn't go right after, we'd have to wait until at LEAST Christmas... and we didn't wanna wait! Smiley smile
