Honeymoon right after or wait?

Laura, on January 13, 2017 at 5:47 AM

Our wedding is May 20th in tahoe (local for us). We are thinking of doing a week long honeymoon but waiting until August. Instead, do just a honeymoon suite for the night of and next night. Has anyone else put off their honeymoon, thoughts?

FH and I took a trip to Japan where he proposed, soooo I think we kind of preempted the honeymoon. No plans to go anywhere at this point after the fact, and I'm just fine with that!

I just had a similar conversation with my parents.. I'm thinking FH and I should wait til December to do ours. We get to save more money and get out of the cold weather lol. I was stuck on the idea of going right after the wedding but now I don't see the rush

I say go right after. Then when you return you will have that "wow we're married feeling. Getting married Sat leaving for the Caribbean the Wed. We will have family visiting so we plan to spend the three days with them and fly out.

Were getting married on a Saturday, at the casino which is close to our venue (a lot of family is staying the extra nights due to the holiday weekend) and leaving for Hawaii on Tuesday

Ideally I would want to leave right after. Mainly so I don't have to take two different chunks of time off work. But we are doing a tour of Egypt so we have to wait a week or two to make the tour.

Yes we are putting ours off almost 6 months if not longer- because with life, that's the way we need to do it. We are doing the honeymoon suite thing like you said and it will be great. ETA: a honeymoon realistically shouldn't make you feel any more or any less married. You're married after you say your vows. That's the bit that matters.

Yeah I know plenty of people who delayed their honeymoon for one reason or another. We're getting married on 8/11 and leaving on 8/31. Not as big of a gap as yours but we just want some time to breath and adjust to our new place after the wedding before going on our honeymoon.

This is such a great idea! I'm definitely talking to my FH about this tonight! I truly love the idea of waiting a few days then heading to our honeymoon.
