Honeymoon under 2,500??

Michelle, on March 7, 2016 at 10:01 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 20

So my fiancé and I really want to go to Sandals in the Bahamas but we are a little on the fence about spending $3,500. Have any of you guys found anything in the range of 2,000-2,500 or is 3,500 the cheapest we will find for an all inclusive! Please share your experiences!

Thank you!

We wanted to save on the honeymoon also. We ended up booking a cruise. It was much more affordable, and ended up being able to book extras like a couples massage.

We wanted to save as well and ended up booking a cruise. Even with a few shore excursions will still ended up spending less than $2500. Plus we aren't limited to just one place we are getting to see 4 different places on a 7 day cruise!

How long to do you want to go? We did Sandals in Jamaica for 7 nights, but if we couldn't have afforded that we would have just dropped nights to be in the range we want or changed the room.

If you really want to go you can make the trip happen for the price range your in, knocking off 1 night at the Bahamas resort will save you $650 right there.

Have you considered Cancun, Mexico or thereabouts? You will still get the Caribbean feel but most of the resorts down there to all inclusive packages that help save a ton of money. My fiance and I are going down there for a wedding in August and paid about $1,100 for airfare (there are cheaper options but we opted for the pricier tickets to fit our schedules), $600 for hotel for 3 nights, then will pay $170 a day for unlimited food and drinks (adult beverages included) for the both of us.

I also recommend a cruise. We're doing 5 nights and it's about $1300. That's food and booze. We'll likely do a few excursions as well but like a pp said, we get to visit multiple places so even just hanging out will be awesome.

We're doing an all-inclusive 4-night Norwegian cruise to the Bahamas for about $800. we will stay in miami for a couple of nights after the cruise.

FH was a little scared before his first cruise. he hates boats/deep water. but the cruise ship is so big you dont even realize youre on the water! and you can get patches to help with seasickness if thats a concern you have

@MrsC. Did you feel safe in the Dominican republic? Did you ever leave the resort or stay on the property the whole time?

We used cheapcaribbean.com and we are going to Mexico! Staying at Secrets Silversands Riveria Cancun for 5 nights, 6 days in a junior swim up suite and got a free romance package and some other coupons for a massage and candle light dinner when we booked. Everything together including private transfers round trip came to $2600! EDIT: Our HM also falls during summer so you may be able to find cheaper prices since your date is in October. Cruises are super cheap in Winter months!

Side note: Sandals is expensive. The cheapest Sandals resort is Ochi and we actually orginally booked sandals ochi in a club level villa for $2900 for 6 nights/7 days and that did not include air fare or any excursions, etc. just the room!

Have you looked at Thailand at all? I've seen some travel deals for around $1200 that include airfare and activities.

If you need time to pay, try deltavacations. You only need to put $400 down then you have until 30 days before departure date to pay the balance. No interest charges. Jamaica, and Mexico are pretty inexpensive and have tons of all inclusive options. Be sure to purchase travel insurance if you chose Jamaica in October. That is their hurricane season.

A recommendation for Sandals - they are gorgeous and well worth the price. But consider the Carlyle in Jamaica. It's one of the smaller, older, more quaint of all the resorts, but it's one of the ones that is part of the "Stay at one, play at Three" deals. So you get to play/visit/eat/drink at Montego Bay, Carlyle, and Royal Caribbean, all included. I just did a quick quote and 8 nights at Carlyle including airfare (from FL) was just under $2,500.

We used Costco travel and booked a 5 night stay in Nuevo Vallarta at a beautiful all inclusive for just under $2500!! We stayed at Grand Occidental Resorts. (got better ratings than barcelo....and also looked better....)

So its totally do-able. Of course, it does depend on where you live, if you live on the east side of the US, if you want to keep costs down you should stay on the east. There are even great honeymoon locations inside the US you can choose from.

The shorter your flight, the cheaper the flight "should" be, just remember that. We went from CA, so the flight to PV wasn't so expensive (or long).

We are going to Cancun. It came out to about $2100 for 7 nights and that’s with several extra room features. We used points for our flights and are saving up some cash for excursions.
