Honeymoon Weeks After Wedding?

BBBB2016, on May 20, 2015 at 4:11 PM

We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon and the ship we want to take doesn't have a trip until 2 weeks after our wedding. Anyone else not going on their honeymoon directly after their wedding?

We're waiting a month. FH and I don't live together now, so it gives us time to get situated in a new place. We love being with family for Thanksgiving, so we'll stick around for that, and get back just before Christmas!

We're going 1 month after, cheaper! Not by much but what we save will be our spending money.

Our wedding is in October and our Honeymoon is in December. I have friends getting married in September who are going on their Honeymoon in December as well. Another friend got married last October, did a mini-moon in a cabin, and is doing a big Honeymoon/ 1 year anni this summer. No big deal at all if you do it right away or not. It's whatever works best for you 2!

We're waiting 6 months for our honeymoon. We didn't want to go away somewhere warm when it's *finally* gorgeous weather in Ontario. We want to enjoy the summer weather while it's here! We fly out in December, when the weather will be miserable again. I also think it'll be nice to have something else to look forward to.

A lot of people do this because the timing or the price is right! However, I like to make my honeymooners aware that special honeymoon perks or amenities (massages, candlelight dinner on the beach, etc) may only be valid within 30 days of the wedding at some resorts. Most resorts are pretty flexible if you ask.

The honeymoon cruise we booked is about 10 days after our wedding. We decided not to hold the wedding the weekend before as it will be Passover and we have a few jewish guests that we really want to come and be able to partake in all the food and beverages Smiley smile It's not a big deal to us...we'll go to work for a week and then fly to Hawaii. It was more important to us to pick our ideal cruise than to it the traditional way and settle for something else.
