I set one up because my cousin did for her wedding and recommended it. We just recieved $1000 in gifts from a friend. Do they charge for us to transfer this money to our bank account? Has anyone used this registry before?

I'll leave this here before I won't check this thread again. I believe it's nice to have a registry because many people ask if you have one. Not all people like to just write a check. They like to feel as if they gave us our airfare or swam with dolphins etc. We will use the money for our honeymoon. Thanks all for your comments!

You didn't have a registry, you had a honeymoon fund with activities on it. Big difference.

And no, no one wants to pay for your honeymoon airfare.

    OMG 7.5% fee??? That's outrageous!

A gift registry is fine and a small one indicates that your guests will most likely give cash. Those honeyfund things are deceptive because those who want to give a "gift" is just giving cash. So backwards in thinking.

    Why have a middleman???

How does anyone not know asking for money is tacky? Not trying to be mean but I honestly don't understand

I guess I'm cranky today. I blame that tropical depression and my sinus headache.

My cousins did this and I sent, wait for it.... a CHECK!! WOW, funny how those things work. I didn't want to spend my hard-earned money going to the fees for "drinks" for their honeymoon.

You are actually losing money for your honeymoon by doing this and asking guests to spend more than they actually intended.

Just place a checking account deposit slip in with your invitations to avoid the fee.

Your guests do realize they aren't actually buying you a swim with the dolphins or a dinner on the beach right? They are giving you money and thanks to the website you have your honeymoon registry on, money will be taken out of that gift for their fees. So they are giving money to both you and honeyfund.
