Are you planning on staying in Michigan for your honeymoon? Or are you open to traveling elsewhere?

If you want to stay in Michigan, then I recommend Mackinac Island

If you want to stay local, the Shinola hotel is amazing. Amazing. If staying in Michigan, check out Saugatuk or Grand Rapids - there are wineries and lots of pretty scenery. You could go to Chicago, it’s only a 4.5 hour drive. Depends what you’re looking to do.

If you're looking to stay in Michigan, Mackinac Island is always nice (though can be expensive and touristy)! Many places along the lake can be expensive in the summer, but you may be able to find good deals. If you're looking to stay along Lake Michigan, check out Traverse City or St. Joseph - both have beautiful beaches and lots of great wineries and breweries. If you're looking for a bigger city for more things to do, Grand Rapids always has things going on (during a non-COVID time)!

If you don't want to stay in Michigan for your honeymoon, what type of honeymoon are you looking for? One with a beach? Or mountains? Or hiking/adventure?

To add: macinac is very love/hate. It looks like previous posters love it, which is great. I hate it. IMO it’s a boring tourist trap. There are no cars/driving and options are very limited. It’s like an old timey town, like Disney where it’s fun for kids or an activity but I would not consider romantic or fun. Again, personal preference.

Some things that could help us:

    Budget

    Willingness to travel

    Length of time

    Things you like to do

We did Disney, but we're also not beach people. Some couples go camping, some do road trips, some do full resorts. It's really a matter of what you like!

Hawaii is always a good honeymoon option! Otherwise, check out California or Florida.
