Honeymooning a few months later?

Sarah, on June 25, 2018 at 10:53 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22
FH and I are huge Disney fans, we go about every year, but with the wedding coming up, we decided not to go, but it’s our spot for our honeymoon...would it be weird if we went in October for our honeymoon? We’re getting married in March. It just gives us enough time to do everything we want and we get to see MNSSHP 😌

Not weird at all! A friend of mine is doing her honeymoon a few months after! However (if possible) I would suggest maybe taking a few days off after the wedding and doing a bed and breakfast or something local to relax after the big day.

I do not think it would be weird at all! My fiance and I actually went on our honeymoon 6 months before our wedding because it worked better for us.

Yeah, totally! We were gonna go up to our cabin by the lake for a few days to relax, but I just didn’t want it to seem weird going on our honeymoon a few months later lol. But thank you! I appreciate it!

Totally normal to delay a honeymoon. We have friends who got married in March and are waiting until next year because of finances. Do what you want!

Not at all. It’s more common for couples to go later in the year versus right after the wedding

This is exactly what FH and I are planning on doing too! Wedding in Sept '19 then DISNEY (!!!) a couple months later. We will do a minimoon right after the wedding for 2 or 3 days locally. It will give us time to save up more money and be well rested to thoroughly enjoy our full honeymoon.

A lot of couples are opting for a minimoon or weekend getaway right after the wedding and taking their actual honeymoon later. I'm considering the same thing because of vacation time.

If it works for you go for it. We are spending 3 nights at the hotel and then our real honeymoon in Dubai 3 months later.

I think it's perfect. I don't even know if we will go on one within the first 5 months after being married because we want to purchase a house right away.

It’s perfectly fine, I think you can have a mini moon just few nights at the hotel on your area after the wedding then go for that Disney honeymoon after 5 months.

We are having a minimoon starting the day after our wedding and then going on our honeymoon the following year.

We are going to Disney World too! I have never been and am a huge HUGE Disney fan and we want to go before having kids so I can be as selfish as I want! Haha! I can't wait! But we are paying for the wedding entirely on our own so finances wouldn't allow for a nice honeymoon this year too. I don't think there is any problem with doing it months, or even a year later!

Not weird. My honeymoon is 8 months after my wedding bc cruise to Alaska only happen in the summer and we're getting married in October. Plus I don't get any more time off work during the school year so we had to wait until summer for that too.

That sounds like it would work better! I’ve known a lot of people who have delayed their honeymoons recently and FH and I will probably do the same and just wait until I am on summer break from work. We live together already and will have for 2.5 years at wedding time so the honeymoon isn’t as big of a deal to us.

Disney in October is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! They have a wine festival at Disney World's EPCOT Center in the fall that allows you to sample food and wine from around the world. As a newlywed couple, Disney also offers options to purchase specialty packages when you choose your dining plans and tickets. Additionally, because most American children have returned to school at that time, there are fewer crowds when you visit the park through the week in the day time. Finally, it is cooler and much more comfortable to walk around the parks in both California and Florida to visit the attractions which gives you the opportunity to stay and play longer. I think you would truly enjoy honeymooning at Disney in October! Happy planning!
