Honeymooning during covid

Angie, on September 29, 2021 at 12:01 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are trying to figure out our honeymoon plans, originally we wanted to go to Jamaica but we havent traveled at all since before covid started in January 2020, so I have no idea what to expect. Our honeymoon wouldnt be until late March/early April 2022 and of course we don’t know how travel restrictions will be at that time. I know everyone has completely different plans but I just wanted to hear some opinions… Would you recommend staying in the US and doing a minimoon, or do you feel comfortable enough to travel to another country? Is there any places that are relatively easy to travel to right now? We're wanting to go somewhere tropical where we can lay out on a beach all day. Some additional info, my fiancé is vaccinated and I am not (please no hate, I’m not against getting vaccinated I just had a bad reaction to the first dose Smiley cry ) I know some cruises require you to be vaccinated, do some airports require this as well?

We will be going to the Dominican Republic for 9 days in March of 2022. Even though we are both vaccinated we still have to provide a negative covid test to get back in the US. I'm fine doing this as I really don't want to stay in the country.
Our resort is requiring you to be vaccinated. I would be cautious moving forward as it seems like they are trying to mandate it for any flights at this point as well.
Not a pro vaccine post by any means, just stating the way the media has been going.
We will not be getting boosters unless mandated by our job.

Do you happen to know if resorts offer covid testing, since we need a negative test to come back to the US? And if so, are the results are instant? I'm a total over thinker and I'm terrified of getting stuck somewhere, which is why we haven't traveled sine January 2020! Lol

Oh wow, yes I would hate to plan our honeymoon and end up having to cancel since I'm not vaccinated at this time Smiley sad I guess we will just wait and see how things go once it gets a little closer, and possibly have a late honeymoon

    Hello Angie,

Since Covid started I have traveled to Cancun 3 times, the resorts there offer testing and is usually free although I have seen some of the more basic resorts charge a fee of about $50. The all inclusive in Cancun are limiting their capacity and my experience was finding resorts about half way full or less. Never had issues finding reservations at the many restaurants they offer and was still able to do many activities. The activities are limited to certain number of people and they provide sanitizing measures above what I have seen here in the US. Everyone is masked and cleaning is constant all day and night long. The rooms are left vacant for at least 24 hours between bookings and are completely sanitized. The last resort I stayed at was TRS Yucatan since I had stayed at others in Cancun and from the moment we arrived we were in awe of how they were handling the situation considering so many of them had not yet been vaccinated.
