We honeymooned in Asheville, and just wanted to recommend our favorite things.
Food:Golden Fleece: Amazing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cozy atomosphere, friendly staff, out of the way gem. Features upscale, Greek-inspired cuisine. Try the coffee cocktail with absynthe.Hokudo: Another hole in the wall gem. Have delicious Japanese food with drinks for a very reasonable price. Best pickles period.Del Veccio's: Great little Italian joint for when you want Pizza or something. A lot of options on the menu, including gluten free.
You gotta do the Omni Spa. One of the best in the country. My suggestion is to spend your time at an inexpensive hotel, and go here every day for a different spa service. Then, spend the whole day in the spa. If you want to go all out, do one of their club level rooms with no kids and free booze.
On a snowy day, do Wolf Ridge for skiing or snowboarding. The Pisgah area looked nice, and had horseback riding. The city of Asheville is not as interesting as the outdoor activities surrounding it.
