Have you looked on hopper? When I checked back in January for our December flight it said to wait. Prices seemed ridiculous.

The reason it is high is because it is spring break and Easter. Can't even fly to Florida for less than $1k.

I looked at Hawaii too! It was like $7k. Trying to fly to San Juan and can't find anything lower than $1600.

View Quoted Comment We are flying in December. Flights were almost 5-6 k for us looking about a year early. We ended up paying way less by waiting and observing hopper. We even got a cheaper price for upgraded class. Only paid just over 2k.

There really is something to be said for using a travel agent. I don't know how they do it, but they wave their magic wand and find cheaper everything

Could you fly out the Tuesday after? Check Google Flights for the cheapest flights! I just looked on there, and it was $250 less to fly out from my city to San Juan the Tuesday after than it is on 4/11.

You might also be looking way too early. Flights are usually most affordable about 3 months out. I'd set an alert on Hopper. We are going to Maui in January and our flights were only $600 roundtrip/direct.
