Honeymoons during Covid19?

Emily, on April 20, 2021 at 4:38 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8
My fiance and I are thrilled to get married but not so thrilled about planning our honeymoon because of the pandemic. Originally we talked about going to Europe but we are unsure if that will still be a possibility by next spring/summer. So we are thinking of alternate options in case we can't do our first choice. Any suggestions on places to go? We live in the Pacific Northwest.

Hi Emily, we are facing a similar dilemma. Really tricky finding a suitable honeymoon destination! We married in August and had cancelled our Sandals Royal Bahamian honeymoon as the resort would be closed. We waited it out anticipating its opening May 1st. Well, it was just announced they will continue to be closed till November this year. 😞 We are looking for other options, but the pickings are slim. I just spoke to a coworker who had canceled his Hawaiian trip as he encountered a lot of red tape, closings, etc. if we find something safe and amazing will report back!! ❤️

We originally had a cruise for the Bahamas booked, but we decided to cancel two months ago. We're from Southwest Virginia, so we wanted to get out of Appalachia for a bit and go somewhere sandy with pretty water!

We booked a flight to Key West at a cute bed and breakfast on Duval Street — essentially walking distance to everything!

Thank you Chelsea! And that's awesome you found something else that will still be fun for you both and sunny! Thinking Florida would be nice I've always wanted to go to Universal studios and Disney world. Not exactly honeymoon destinations haha but still fun.

My FH and I live in CA and are renting a cabin at Big Bear Lake (about a 5 hour drive from where we live). We wanted something that was just relaxing and had options, but didn't require us to specifically schedule them into our trip. By that I mean there are plenty of hiking trails, a few ropes courses, a zoo, the lake, etc., so there's plenty to do but we don't have to schedule it and can do it on our own time. Not sure which state you're in, but OR and WA both would definitely have options along those lines that could be really nice. With things look up pandemic-wise, you'll likely have more option when your wedding rolls around in a year. I'd suggest checking things out in a few months and then again at the 6 month mark to see where the world is at and what your options are.

Thank you Melody! That is so true and yes I think waiting to see what happens will be the best thing to do. We are in Oregon and love the coast but if we wanted to get out of the state for a while we might go to Cali and find somewhere warm. A place like that sounds really fun and nice to have different activity options too!

You're very welcome! There are tons of beach houses available in CA as well, and I've seen some really gorgeous cabins in the redwoods. I may be biased (okay, I definitely am...), but Cali has a lot of good options for vacation spots whether it's for your honeymoon or just getting away for a week or weekend. Best of luck to you with your planning, and I hope everything works out perfectly for you!
