Honeymoons in Corona times?!?!?!

Jennifer, on April 23, 2020 at 2:01 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

Hi Everyone!

So I have a million thoughts in my mind regarding everything going on like many of you do. So currently, we are scheduled to get married on July 17th in St. Petersburg, Florida. Me and my Fiance live here in South Florida, but all of my 43 guests will be either coming from CA, IN, and VA. My biggest wedding worry is if people will be able to travel by July. All guests have let me know if they can travel they will be here. Next large concern is my honeymoon, because whether or not we can have our gathering, we still plan on getting married on our date. Currently, we have a fully paid for honeymoon aboard one of Royal Caribbean's largest ships. As a realistic person I am confident that eventually Royal Caribbean will be canceling our cruise within the next month or so. I have prepared myself for that and now thinking of other options for us to do. If we can travel by July I would love to go to a nice resort. I have looked into a Sandals Resort in St. Lucia and seems pretty nice and affordable right now. They also have a great flexible cancellation policy. My question is should I jump the gun before Royal Caribbean cancels or should I wait it out before trying to plan something different? Would love your thoughts or opinions especially other brides who are suppose to cruise this summer!

Thank you and sending all my love to brides that are dealing with all the unknowns and postponing/cancelling their weddings! Smiley heart Smiley sad

I would not book anything hoping that your current plans will fall through. I think looking at alternatives is realistic, but I would wait until you know what will happen with your cruise before moving forward with alternative plans.

Hold off until they cancel. It will be soon. One of my GF’s cancelled 48 hours prior to the company cancelling on them and she received a only partial refund. Everyone who waited it out received a full refund.

Thanks for the advice! I just hate the unknown and would hate for us not to be able to do anything because I waited or vs jumped the gun to soon!

Thanks! That's great advice! Just trying to think ahead. I know with everything going on and the phases for re-opening, there is no way we are going to be able to board a ship with 5,000 other people!

No one knows anything right now. We're all trying to hit a moving target in the dark. Best of luck!

I agree with the "research but wait" idea. That seems to be the smartest play.

I would also research more local options, *just* in case travel is restricted to the continental US.

Flexibility and a good Plan B are your best bets.
