We had cruise credits to use up (from all the cancelled cruises during the pandemic) and airline credits as well. 😁😁 So basically our Honeymoon is already half paid for!!

We live and work in Germany (even though I'm American and having the wedding in the US) so we're gonna do an Italian road trip when we get back to Europe 😍 we've been talking about it for years so I'm psyched. We're gonna do a little hotel spoiling, agriturismo living (a farm b&b!), and stay a night in a trullo!! We've been to Italy a number of times, but there's a lot you can't see without a car and ample time so I can't wait 🇮🇹❤️

    Suggestions for your Burbank trip!

-Check out Porto's bakery. Always crowded as heck, but the lines are worth it. Don't just get the sweet stuff too - check their savory items. Chicken croquettes and Potato balls are seriously to die for. But also the sweet stuff.

-If you're looking for a splurge dinner and will be near the beach, check out Ocean Club or Geoffrey's. Expensive but the views are amazing. Other pricey but worth it restaurants: Maestro's, Petit Trois, Morton's, The Odyssey (great views of the Valley).

-If you get a chance, go up Mulholland, specifically the part to the west of the 101/Cahuenga in Burbank. There's a look out a little ways up with a small parking lot where you can see the Hollywood Bowl (and if something is going on there, hear the concert for a few minutes), see all the way to Downtown LA, the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park.

-If you love Marvel - check out Disneyland too. Pricey, but California Adventure just opened a Marvel section. You can also check out the Randy's donuts from the 2nd Iron Man (where he's sitting in the big Donut when Fury finds him).

-If you've never had it, In & Out - gotta do it. California staple.

-If you're doing a beach day (like actually sitting on the beach) skip Santa Monica and go north to Zuma beach in Malibu. Don't stop at the first parking lot - go up a bit. We always go to the 7th lifeguard tower. The beach is shorter, less crowded, and there are bathrooms right there. There's a cool pub on the way there called Ollie's Duck and Dive. Great food. There's also Paradise Cove, if you spend $25 at the restaurant, parking is free. The food's not bad (though a little pricey).

-Video Game themed bar (with pretty good food) - The One Up in Sherman Oaks. My fiancé and I had our first date there!

-You can do the star house tour - or you can just buy a map and drive around yourself. It is definitely a different way to see parts of the city.

-Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank is a very walkable area with restaurants (see, Portos), coffee shops, and little cool unique shopping.

-The Huntington Library is really amazing - the gardens are gorgeous and definitely a fun time.

-The Getty Museum is also great and has amazing views down the 405 to Santa Monica.

    Have fun!

The West Coast is lovely and there is so much to do there. I like that your apartment will be very private and away from everything - that's what you need for a honeymoon Smiley smile. Are you going to Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm or 6 Flags while you are there as well? Smiley smile

We’re not sure! We’re from NY so we’ll probably start around the northeast somewhere and go from there! We’ll see where we decide to go when we start. Maybe we’ll start in Maine Smiley smile

That sounds so cool!!! I visited Europe for a month almost 10 years ago but we went to so many countries I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time in each country! I would love to go back to Italy for longer

Nice Smiley smile It's an exciting thought to be able to travel around and see the country. A lot of people do that here in Australia as well but normally not until we are old and retired and they are called grey nomads Smiley smile

I think it’s something a lot more common amongst retired folks here in the US too. My parents told us it’s a retirement plan but my fiancé and I always say that you never know what tomorrow will bring! No time like the present.

Also Australia is beautiful! Visited a few years ago. Would love to go back!
