Hostess Dresses

Mrs.SoonToBeW., on March 4, 2013 at 6:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Can hostesses wear black dresses at a wedding? My colors are lapis and silver, so will the hostess dress clash with the wedding colors? I'm thinking not, because it will distinguish who the hostesses are.

What are your opinions?

Hello there, my hostess has the choice to wear either black or the eggplant purple. I gave her the choice. I would love if she wore black because she looks so lovely and elegant when she wears black.

I requested they wear floor length all black dresses. FH and I are gifting them pearl necklace earrings and possibly a bracelet.

Our wedding is the "Sweet Hearts" theme, colors are Red, White & Black. I'm requesting that the hostess wears red. The length doesn't really matters at this point.

@FutureMrsHoward......I orginally wanted the girls to wear grey, but I cannot find a dress for them...Where are they getting the dresses from?

Mrs.SoonToBeW, what time of day is your wedding? If it is an evening, wedding, I would think black dresses should be okay, though I don't actually know what color lapis is. My colors are arrays of oranges and greens (I didn't want to pick just one of each because searching for exactly matching items would be too stressful with my limited time), so I've asked my hostesses and ushers to incorporate orange into their attire.

If I were having hostesses, I would ask them to wear black. I think it's easiest way to go, plus black can be as dressy and distinguished as you want. Give them a nice corsage and voila!

My cousin had her hostesses in black at her wedding and it seemed perfectly fine to me. Her colors were sage and brown.
