Hot sauce bar? Favors?

ENG, on April 26, 2016 at 7:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Maybe this is unheard of.. But my FH is insanely into hot sauce and hot peppers. I wanted to have a unique vendor of sorts to give people something to take home.. Is it unheard of to get someone to make personal hot sauces for people on the spot? We live in the south so Lord knows people will do it to bring something home. But I wouldn't know where to start. Advice?

I would go to google and start there. See what pops up. No idea where to look, unless you know of a restaurant in the area that is known for homemade hot sauces?

I think it would be a lot more practical to have the sauce made and bottled ahead of time to give out as favors. I've heard of hot sauce as favors, but not made to order hot sauce.

I like this idea - it's cute. I don't know how much they are, but if you're unable to find someone to make them on the spot, you could always look into "make your own hot sauce" kits. Not that I'm saying to make a craft table at your wedding lol

I thought about doing this for my bridal shower in honor of Beyonce's "I got hot sauce in my bag"...look on etsy! I found a ton of them on there.

I've seen keychains of mini Sriracha bottles online. Hot sauce on the go!

I agree with those that have mentioned prebottling the favors would be easiest for everyone involved. I'd look into finding a local place that has a specialty hot sauce and find out if they do tiny bottles or if they'll sell you enough sauce to fill your own bottles. Maybe get two or three different flavors so your guests can pick if you want them to have choices?

Making hot sauce takes a considerable amount of time. I would touch base with your favorite brand to see if you can purchase bottles in bulk, then relabel with your name, etc.

I honestly have no idea what this would end up looking like. I'd start with googling and pintesting to see if you can find anything similar. Homemade on the spot? Uhmmm I feel this is time consuming and I don't know who is doing the making and am a little confused by it.

I love adding personal elements to a wedding. That being said, I feel like the only way I could envision incorporating this is if you were having specifically spicy foods and maybe had an assortment of spices/hot sauces they could add to their meal.. I personally wouldn't add any myself.

Another thing, just as my FH has always said is that spicy does not go with drinking. He always ends up sick. Just a thought. EDIT: my FH also loves spicy, which is why I thought I'd let you know his take on this

Have you ever made hot sauce? I have. It can take months if you do it the traditional way because the peppers have to cure. I think specialty hot sauce is an awesome favor, but I don't think mix or make your own will really work. Go to a farmers market in your area and I am sure you can find someone who makes small batches of hot sauce so you can order some for wedding favors.

Really cool idea!! I'm not sure if anyone could make or mix them on the spot, but you could definitely do them as favors!

Have a cute label made and put it on the pre made bottles. You have have your personal touch but also get the hot sauce easier to guests.
