Hot weather groom's attire

6-1-18, on May 15, 2017 at 7:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

We're getting married in Georgia in July. Quick outdoor ceremony and indoor reception at night. I'm wearing a pretty casual dress. What should my FH wear? Are khaki pants and a light blue button down too informal? Something like this, without the suspenders?

ETA: I'm totally open to suggestions, we're not set on that and obviously have time to think about it! Smiley smile

How quick is the ceremony? This is a peeve of mine, even if it's 10 mins, your guests will surely be sitting for longer than that waiting for you. Would not like to sit outside in July in Georgia in my wedding clothes as a guest.

Anyway, if your dress is more casual, I think that look is fine.

Definitely won't go over 15 minutes. I'm not jazzed about it either but that was the only date they had available that worked for us. I'm still debating on just having the ceremony inside, but he won't wear a suit regardless.

I think it all depends on how you do it - if it fits with the overall theme I think that's just fine. There are very tasteful ways to dress up a groom without a tux.

What does your dress look like? I always think it looks a bit off when the groom wears an outfit he would wear to go to the farmers market and the bride is wearing a gown.

Is he against suits because he hates suits? Or, because he never wears one and has no idea what it would be like?

If your dress is at all typical I would encourage him to wear a linen suit (they are not at all hot. Linen is the perfect fabric for hot weather) or a seersucker jacket and linen pants. he could wear his collar open and no tie.

Don't worry about the guests.. they can wait and have those paper fans if needed. I'm also having an outdoor wedding at the end of August

And your style is close to mine as well! The groom is wearing beige linen pants and matching linen vest with off white button down. Since my dress is ivory.

I'm wearing a full flower halo!

Don't worry especially if the reception is indoor. Do what you want girl!

He's not against suits at all! He wanted to wear one until I brought up how hot it would be. Now he's rethinking it. The linen suit is actually a really good idea though! This is what I'm wearing, but the skirt will be ivory.

We are having an outdoor wedding ceremony as well and FH is wearing light grey suit pants, and a white button down with a vest in one of our wedding colors and no suit jacket. He's planning to roll the sleeves on his button up to his elbows so he can get a little air. I think your inspiration picture minus the suspenders would work just fine with your dress. [Love your dress btw]

Having seen your dress, I think he needs to dress up a bit. Your dress has a very romantic look. A linen suit or seersucker jacket has a bit of a retro look that has a would be perfect with your dress.

We are doing an island wedding and FH is wearing linen pants, a linen vest (no jacket), and a linen/cotton blend shirt. We got everything from the Men's Wearhouse (current season so you can do the same) and it did not break the bank. He will definitely be able to wear it all again as well!

Don't worry about the guests? They can wait? Well, that's a nice attitude. Sorry, fans do not help in the summer in the south.

If it's ungodly hot, move it inside.

As for the groom; linen, seersucker, vests and pants and ties without jackets. No khakis and suspenders; that looks too casual for your dress.

I hadn't even considered linen, but I think that's what we'll go with! Thanks, Muriel, for the links! And thanks everyone Smiley smile
