Hotel block dates/days

Jenn, on February 21, 2020 at 4:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I was wondering if anyone could help me with understanding how I would go about booking the amount of days for the hotel blocks!

For example, our wedding is on a Saturday, and I think some people will fly in on Friday, the day before, but I think some people would like to fly in on the day of the wedding, the Saturday, as our ceremony doesn't start until 4:30 pm.
When booking the blocks, do you block for a certain amount of days? Or are the guests allowed to use your "code/discount" for however days that they would like to book?
Say if I book courtesy room blocks for Check in Friday and Check out Sunday, will some of our guests be able to be book for Saturday night only?
Thanks much in advance!

Yes. It’s just blocking rooms for those dates until they are released. So people can do any combination of one or two days. And most times the hotel will allow you to extend it further. So, for example, if someone arrives on Thursday and stays till Sunday, most times they will let them get the block price for even Thursday night. But that varies, so I would ask.

Yes, book Friday and Saturday night with a checkout of Sunday! That’s what I did for my wedding, and guests had the option of picking one or both nights.

We blocked a number of rooms for Friday night and then about double that number for Saturday night. So, ours weren’t for an amount of days, rather, the specific days themselves — if the people were staying both nights they just booked fri-sun, and our code applied to both nights.

Your hotel will have its own specific policies and should be able and willing to answer questions for you Smiley smile

This is about to be a long post but I have been working for hotel for over 15 years.........Check with the hotel that to be sure. There are two options when you do a room block first one is a contracted room block meaning you will be responsible for the rooms that aren't picked up. For example if you contract 10 rooms and only 5 people book at the hotel then you are responsible for paying for the 5 that weren't picked up.....I highly suggest not doing this... the second option is a courtesy room block where the hotel will hold a certain amount of rooms for your guests (based on the amount of rooms you tell them that will be needed) the hotel will give you a discounted code that the guests will use when calling in or booking online, the hotel will you give you a group cutoff date meaning the will stop honoring the discount after that date so tell your guests to book prior to that date because whatever rooms aren't picked up will be released. Also, keep in mind that although you are granted a certain price for the rooms check the website leading up to your wedding because sometimes the hotel will offer special promotions and the room rate will be a lot cheaper than yours. if that happens call the hotel and they will adjust the pricing for your group rate.

If you still need help just message me.......sorry for the long post
