Hotel block for holiday weekend

Contact your venue & see if they have any hotels nearby they would recommend. Our venue recommended 2 hotels nearby & i checked both. One had a 2 night minimum whereas the other didn’t. I don’t know of any reputable hotels that would book over a year out.

Columbus Day is not a major holiday except for schools and retail. Wait until 6-9 months before to set up the block.

You mean Indigenous People's Day weekend? I would contact local hotels in the area and inquire.

1 year out should be enough time to make your room block. I would set a reminder in your phone (or wherever you keep reminders) to call the hotel back at the 1 year mark to reserve the room block. Michelle also had a great idea about asking your venue for suggestions.

That’s a home football game weekend in my hometown which has a major university campus. If you can get a block there, it would be a 3 night minimum prepaid and non refundable. While we don’t generally think of government holidays being a big deal for the travel industry, there might be other events that weekend.
