Hotel Room Blocks affected by Covid-19

Brenda, on April 9, 2020 at 1:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2
I was wondering if anyone can share any experiences with room blocks for your weddings during COVID-19 times. My wedding is next year (January of 2021), but obviously due to the current situation none of my guest will be booking anything any time soon.

My wedding is in January as well (January 16), and I am currently in the process of securing room blocks at 2 different hotels (with different price points). While hotel sales staff are mainly working remotely, they have been responsive. My blocked are open until 30 or 60 days before the wedding with a review of the room blocks 90 days before. I’m not responsible for any rooms in the block that do not book. To book in the blocks, guests need to use a credit card but they will not be billed until check-in.

    Hi Brenda,

As Sharonda mentioned, I think most hotels (and businesses) have someone answering the calls and emails. Have you reached out to inquire?

In my experience with booking room blocks, the hotel will need to know:

    - The date(s) of your wedding/event

    - Approximate number of rooms needed / size of your wedding

    - Payment source - for example, if you're covering any of the rooms for your parents/in-laws

You'll want to find out the following important pieces of information:

    - Rate per night

    - Deadline to book rooms under the block

    - Process for booking - reservations phone number and/or custom URL (can be added to your wedding website, included on electronic invitations/RSVPs, etc.)

I'm wishing you luck with getting it all set-up soon! Smiley heart
