Hotel Room Blocks for Wedding in St. Augustine, fl

Lizelle, on January 23, 2020 at 1:29 PM Posted in Florida Planning 1 6
We are getting married in a location where hotels and Airbnb’s are plentiful. We’re having a hard time making a decision on whether or not we should do a hotel block! I’ve inquired with a few hotels and 90% of them do not offer courtesy blocks...

If hotels don’t offer a courtesy block then I wouldn’t do one. No hotels in our city do one but we were able to find one that did a rate agreement.

I had courtesy blocks and I still don’t think it was worth it

I'm getting married in St. Augustine too! I ended up not doing the blocks. I'm getting married in the World Golf Village area and hotels are expensive there Smiley sad

If you can’t find courtesy blocks I wouldn’t do it but I would make sure your guests have received enough notice so they can book ahead of time to save money. We had a DW and rooms were expensive so I tried to give people as much notice as we could.

If you can fine at least one hotel to do a courtesy block, I would. Though St. Aug has a lot of hotels and Airbnb’s, they are often full. As an ex Florida resident, who visited there often, we always had a hard time finding a place to stay. So having a definite option for your guests would be nice.

Hi Lizelle! I'm not sure where in St Augustine your venue is, but I booked a courtesy room block at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort. They gave me 10 rooms, and any more than that, you need to sign the sales agreement.

They gave me rooms for $139+tax per night AND for us, only $50 more ($189+tax) to book a Suite. Normal rates are $214 a night for a standard room and $279+tax per night for the Suites
