hotel room Blocks: What should my mix of 1 king vs 2 queen rooms be?

soletsdance, on November 19, 2021 at 5:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm getting married at the Mirage in Vegas and doing a wedding block there - they said I need to specify how many kings and queens I need, but I'm not sure how to divide it up? I have 120 guests - most are couples, but a few singles (no kids). I'm sure some people might want to share a room to save on cost. They stated there's no penalty for "overbooking", but will release the unbooked rooms 60 days before our wedding.

I was thinking getting at least 60 kings in case that's what each group wanted, but wasn't sure about the queens. What do you think is an appropriate amount? Maybe half of the amount of king rooms? Appreciate the insight!

60 kings sounds fine. Not all guests will want to share rooms if they are not already couples.

Do the queen rooms have 2 queen beds or 1?

If there's no penalty for overbooking (they just release the rooms and don't charge you) - then I think it might be worth adding at least 5 rooms with 2 queens to the room block just so they're an option!
