Has anyone used Hotel Planner for booking hotel blocks? Are there and hidden fees or problems you had?

I wouldn't recommend it. The Hotel I work for jacks up the rate on Hotel planner if we take them at all because we have to pay commission. Your best bet is to call the hotel directly.

I've not used it but it's always better to call the hotel directly and establish a relationship with the sales manager. When you have questions or need a favor, you'll already be corresponding/speaking with that person.

When my husband and I needed a place to get dressed (there was no bridal suite at our venue) right in between check in and check out times, the sales manager let us book a room for the night before (even though we didn't stay there) and gave us a courtesy 2PM check out. We were able to drop off our gown/suit, shoes and other things the night before. Won't get that kind of service from a website.
