Housekeeping???

Ladies and gents, it has come to my attention that I am a terrible housekeeper. It's all I can do to keep the laundry and dishes caught up. DH helps when we do a deep cleaning but we are both struggling to keep up on the everyday stuff. Does anyone have any tips to keep your home neat and tidy in a minimal amount of time on a daily basis? Is there a chart or breakdown somewhere of what chore-type things get done on which day? Please help! It's gotten embarrassing.
