How are you all getting in shape for the wedding?

Ngoc, on December 10, 2020 at 12:52 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20

My wedding / elopement is 4 months away and I'm wondering how you all are getting in shape. I'm at about 10 pounds from my ideal weight (in terms of fat reduction) and need to tone up too. I live in San Francisco and used to walk 3ish miles for my daily commute, but since I've been working from home since March. It's tough getting my steps in and motivating myself to workout.

Over the last 3 months, I've cleaned up my diet (eating more veggies, cooking at home, and cutting out sugar and fried foods by 80%), swapped out my sitting desk for a standing desk, and have been consistent with walking (1 hour, 5x a week). I've dropped 10 pounds since then, but that was mostly the weight I gained during covid. I'm happy with the results and feel more comfortable in my body, but want to look stellar for the special day.

I know I can clean up my diet even more and stretch my exercises further, but I'm having a tough time getting there.

What do you ladies do to stay motivated and push yourself harder? Please share what's worked for you! Thanks!

I would say don't worry too much because you will look beautiful anyway! Honestly what you are doing is great! Drinking a lot of water is helpful too!

I watch my diet and do some exercises at home. I think most of my weight control is from my meal portion. I recently stopped intermittent diet because it gets cold in Bay Area and I and my dh and kids are getting hungry all the time. I always gets lazier in the winter 😂

I ran a minimum of 3-4 days a week and did not eat any sweets. To stay motivated, I just reminded myself our wedding was coming up and I had an expensive dress to fit into lol.

What types of exercises? I know what you mean - bay area is getting colder now and it's hard to stay motivated to go outside for cardio! Intermittent fasting actually works well for me since I'm not hungry in the morning anyway, but I'm afraid I'll overeat for lunch and dinner. Portion control is important!

🤣 Yes!!!! This! We have to maintain our shape for the dress to fit in. All this postponement force us to keep our shape longer. Wayyyy longer.

I roller skates, yoga, and light-weigh lift. When I did intermittent diet, I ate only once a day. I am also not hungry in the morning. I pushed it until I get too hungry, which is around 4-5pm, then I ate a lot, then nothing until the next day. It helped me shed 8kg within 3-4 months. It was all on tummy, cheeks, and my upper arms. Now I just want to get toned.

I finally just broke down and bought a treadmill because I knew cold weather/snow in the Chicago area would prevent outdoor exercise, and I don’t feel safe going to a gym with covid running rampant. It’s definitely been the greatest purchase I’ve made in a long time! I got mine from Kohl’s (who knew they carried exercise equipment?!) for under $1,000. I ordered it from their website and they delivered it to my front door- zero human contact. They had even cheaper ones too- as low as $400! I’ve also really upped my water intake and have been focusing on cutting calories and keeping my carbs, fat and cholesterol low.

I’m making sure I’m in a calorie deficit, ideally I would like to lose at least 10 pounds if not 20 before the wedding. I’m doing a lot of at home workouts I find on YouTube as well as trying to do as much strength training as I can at home because that tones but also helps burn fat too!

My FH and I are making our weight loss a team goal! He and I go to the gym after work and we also cook healthy meals together. I think having someone to workout with and keep you accountable, helps with motivation during a weight loss journey!

I like to do cardio on the elliptical for 30min, and after that I switch to weights and machines. If I'm not able to go to the gym, then I walk my dog for 30min, or I'll do home workouts from youtube. MadFit and Popsugar Fitness are both channels I love for my home workouts, and they offer varying levels of difficulty! I can't offer much advice as far as counting calories and being on a calorie deficit goes, because personally, keeping track of that never benefited me or helped me lose any weight. But also, what doesn't work for me, may work for you and vice versa!

Just remember that 'slip up' days are normal. Don't be too hard on yourself when you do slip up, but just get back at it the very next day! The more you workout and eat healthy, the more it becomes routine and a part of your everyday life.

Avoid drinking any calories. This means alcohol, soda, creamer in your coffee, really anything aside from water and black coffee/tea. This makes a huge difference.

I’ve dropped the weight by portion control, intermittent fastings, reducing soda & drinking more water.

Definitely find an exercise regimen that you enjoy and can stick to. the key to this is staying consistent! for me it was hard to be motivated when i didn't have an exercise workout i even liked. but finally when i found something i actually enjoyed doing, it made me feel ok with sticking to it.

I use the myfitnesspal app and that has helped me, especially with foods that I thought were okay to eat but really arent. I log in foods daily. Also I limited alcohol consumption to 2 days a week and only drinking wine. Def walking, cardio burns fat.

Hi Ngoc! I worked with a personal trainer who helped me not only reach my goal weight, but surpassed it by 7 pounds!! I’m in PA but my trainer does virtual sessions. Feel free to private message me and I can connect you to him! I loved working with him so much, I continue after our wedding to maintain my weight. ❤️

Good morning/evening , I used to have same problem and needed to lose lots of weight and tried to eliminate majority of some food which didn’t help at all and I know some people don’t like exercising like me personally . So , I’ve tried this smoothies remedies and actually lost couple of weights 3 pound in the first 3 days and got the weight what I wished for by losing 24 pound in 28 days ( without exercising ) I am so happy this happened to me I was like 191 lbs or more and got to 167 in 28 days and the best point is I didn't gain weight after I lost it , so to solve your problem , if you’re curious about this method I used to drop all the weight here’s the link below : healthfitness783792230.wordpress.com

I use the FitOn app. It has many different types of workouts with minimal equipment that you can do at home no matter what level you are at. I tend to get bored during exercise and need frequent changes and this has been great.

I've been using a counting calories app and drinking more water. I don't really like water tbh, so I add lemon juice or zero calorie flavorings like Mio. As silly as it sounds, I also got a cute new "Bride" water bottle and that's been encouraging, too! I used to get hungry a lot more, it's amazing how many snacks/meals I ate when I thought I was hungry and was actually thirsty.
