How are you indicating meal choices on escort cards???

FutureMrs.G, on April 13, 2016 at 7:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

We've already gotten 30 RSVPs back (140 guests) and I have started thinking about how we're going to indicate meal choices on the escort cards. We have three options - a beef dish, a chicken dish, and a dairy-free gluten-free chicken dish (we don't have any vegetarians on the guest list, but our venue is willing to work with us if someone's dietary needs change) - and they need us to make it easy for the waitstaff to know what dish to serve everyone at the reception. For those of you in a similar situation, how are you handling this? What are you doing on your escort cards to help indicate meal choices? (I'm open to anything except for putting cow and/or chicken stickers on the escort cards because my mother made it very clear that this was "off-putting" (her words) lol). Thanks everyone!

We only have two meal choices. Whatever template I go with for escort cards will be in our main two wedding colors. Each will correspond to a dish, so that it's not super obvious. Right now, we have about twice as many orders for the filet than for salmon.

Jeweled stickers on the corners. Easier than different colored cards per choice because I'm printing them at home and can just add them after.

I recently went to a wedding that had little jewels in the corner in their colors but each color meant a different dish.

I would do something easily seen by the wait staff. I think different color cards would be perfect.

Check with your venue--they may have a preference. My venue wanted letters in the bottom right corner of the escort cards, i.e., C for chicken, F for fish, etc.

Tagging in because I also need to decide how to do this. I have thought about the colored jewels, im just nervous they will fall off. I could easily print C for chicken and F for fish. Seems pretty straight forward I guess.

Those fabric roses are really pretty, Rosie9615!

I have thought about doing little gems, but I'm worried that they won't be very visible in the dimmer lighting of the reception room. I already spoke to my coordinator and they don't have a preference, just as long as I let them know in advance how I've designated meal choices.

You could always put a small letter in the corner for which entree type. B for beef, C chicken and S for special
