how are you keeping track of your invite addresses?

Shellie, on June 6, 2011 at 10:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 46

Our guest list is about final and i was going to start slowly collecting addresses so we can send out our save the dates this fall. But I have no idea how to organize them. the only address book type thing i found on my computer was crappy and annoying. Ideally I'd like some form where i can have both an electronic copy and a printed copy.

How are you keeping track of all your addresses?

I've been using Excel for all my guest list info, including gifts.

Hmm, could one of you maybe explain how you did it? I looked at doing excel (well, the works version of it) and I couldn't seem to make it work right.

FH and I have been using google docs for everything because it allows both of us to access it in real time. So we have our budget, guest list, task list, music list, etc in google docs. It's awesome.

I've been using microsoft word, they have a lot of cool templates to use ... I think I want to see about transfering everything to google docs though because if my computer crashes oh wow ... I'll be beyond pissed ... plus I need a better way to track the RSVP and meal choices once they begin to come in ...

I used Excel then merged that into word for labels and I printed directly on our envelops. MP me if you need a template made up for you. (I love doing this kind of thing and would be happy to help - I am on the computer all day)

I have columns for each event of who should be at which, and which meal and hotels - excel allows for like 256 columns.

I generally do everything in excel. My fiance ported it over to gooogle docs so we can both access it from where ever we are. Excel/ google docs is fantastic for being able to sort all the data depending on what you need (his family, my family, by state or country, what's gone out to who etc etc) he also wrote formulas so the cover page pulls and compiles the data from the other pages (yes, seriously) I wouldn't use anything else. :o)

I used old fashioned index cards. I think this will be easier to track and organize especially when it comes time for seating arrangements. I also numbered them, and put the same number in the corner on the back of their response card so if they don't fill in the name I have something to match it to and figure out who it is. I will also be able to keep track of gifts received and thank you notes sent, by doing it this way. I also made a list and saved it on my computer so I can easily email it to FMIL and the wedding party.

I used Microsoft Word and this website. This way I have them in more than one place. Call me paranoid Smiley winking Also, as my RSVP's come back I have been using this site as well to keep track of how many of each dish I need. I am doing a plated dinner. Not to mention it keeps track of who has sent back an RSVP and when it comes time to call those who didn't return with an answer one way or another it will show me so I won't have to sit sown and go through my entire list and returns to see who i need to call.

Weddingwire tool because it allows me to create a seating chart from the list and then when I need to see it in hard copy I upload to excel.

We bought an old fashioned address book. We are handwriting our invite enevelopes so we don't really need it on the computer. Also, FH can use it when needed and not have me explain how to access it.
