How are you presenting seating/place cards to guests?

To begin, I originally just wanted to do a big board that listed table numbers with names written out under each to show people where to sit and wasn't planning on place cards at all. However, as time's gone on and now that we have menu choices, we've rethought the place card thing and will be doing them afterall.

I've been on many sites looking at creative/unique ways to display placecards and seating arrangements (we still want to do the table numbers/names thing so we're going to use a big board of some sort on an easel provided by the venue), but I just can't find anything I really like or want to do. I'm ALL about DIY projects, but know that if we add another (we already have a few more to do, and they will def. take some time), I need to get on it right away.

Feel free to post links, pictures, or give suggestions -- I'm open to suggestions and very eager to see what the WW community's doing in this area.

Thanks everyone! :-)

We are not posting a chart but we are doing escort cards. We are taking a 1.5 " X 1.5" square wood stained wine color, with a cork standing strait up with a slit in the top. Then we are using a Cricut to cut, grapes, wine bottles and wine glasses. We will put peoples name and table number on them and each person will have thier own. they will be arranged alpha on the card table so people can find them and then find thier seat. We are doing assign by table not by seat. the reason we are having different shapes and colors is so the wait staff knows who to serve what. The grapes are our veggie option, the wine glass the hawaiian fest and the wine bottle the clam bake. We worked it out with the venue so the right people get the right food. I have been to weddings where the last people didn't get what they wanted because people up front changed their order and this way you get what you ordered :-)

I just found this cute idea !

I just stumbled upon this idea from The Knotty Bride blog...

Simply wrap and attach a tag with each persons name. The number of their cookie corresponds to the number of their table! (The lucky people sitting at tables with double digits yet two yummy cookies!)

You can ice them with royale icing in colors to match your decor Smiley smile

These particular cookie cutters are listed as being from Cox & Cox.

We're doing escort cards, and we're doing a picture frame that holds the tables and their respective guests inside the frame.

Ah ... that makes sense -- I guess I always knew that there was a difference in the cards (a "placement" at the tables vs. "escorting" someone to their seats), but figured the terms were more or less interchangeable. Thanks for pointing it out, goskell! :-)

@ Kimi -- just saw the drink thing done on a website today ... I'd be afraid folks would be knocking over shots when picking up their own (then again, hopefully their hands were steadier BEFORE the reception, right?) LOL

@ FutureMrsHodges - I think I saw an iced version of that cookie thing somewhere before -- definitely a cute favor/escort card option! :-)

I will have these on a table with everyone's name and table number. The second larger leaf will be on each table with a table number.
